So it's more of a proof-of-concept then a game? *YAWN* Penny Arcade trashed this, and it looks like they were bang-on. Cool in concept, lacking in implimentation.
They were wrong. Admittedly the game doesn't live up to the hype but it is still a great game. Fable was hyped as a Morrowind-ish game when it's more BG: Dark Alliance-ish but with much better character development and roleplaying. It's kind of a cross between the 2 games with some other unique bits and pieces thrown in.

It's not all I'd hoped it would be but it will do till I can buy a PS2 so I can play EQ: Online Adventures. I just can't believe no one is developing an mmorpg for xbox. Just makes no sense.

I have a feeling that there will be a sequel in the future. The game has a lot of potential. I compare it to KOTOR, it's linear, with limited weapons, and dark light side. KOTOR, although it had some very big environs I guess, was still small. I think Fable, although, trying to be up with Morrowind (I think it did somewhat), became a more Morrowindish world with KOTOR type play. You can find tons of similarities if you just think about it. In the future tho, I have a feeling Fables sequel will be bigger and longer, I think this game though was very poor for as much time spent on it. I mean take a look at KOTOR, and then look back when hints of it were first coming out. That wasn't super long before the arrival. But Fable on the other hand was scheduled as a launch game, known as Project Ego. It was actually worked on, and think about how long you need to make a game. Then think, this game had to be done by launch. Then think it's several years later, and the game is just now coming out. When you have that much time, it should blow Morrowind out of the way, even Halo maybe.

Penny Arcade trashed this game???!!
Well thanks for letting me know how much of a loser that business is.

Besides one issue(its too short) this game would be considered the best action role player to date.
Also people knocked the lack of weapons, and armor. But really you are just remembering other games, where one of the funnest things to do was go shopping for new things.
That is a small thing, to such a great game.
I mean honestly its not the "buying" that makes up the game play.

Sometimes I feel that way... I did really like black and white though.

I'd have to disagree with SunStone of the items issue... I love buying better weapons and armor, with unique looks and cool effects. The problem wasn't just lack of variety, but lack of funtionality. The Will User's suit didn't boost will in any way, the Assasins suit didn't boost stealth, etc.

And no plate helm! Man that rubs me the wrong way for some reason.

In other games that armor stuff mattered because the rest of the game was lacking compared to this game.
In this game, it isn't about shopping, its about defending yourself against 12+ foes at a time.
In the other games, you may have fought alot of enemys, but it was turn based.
In my opinion the turn based system falls way short of games like this one, and zelda.
Thats why you loved to shop for new stuff so much.

Plus the cloths played in more of a social event, than help for battle. Cloths helped you with attractivness, or scariness.
And depending on a few things, people would respond to you different than in other situations.

I to love the shopping part, and I always looked for armor and weapons first, to spend my money on. But when it wasn't a big deal, like in other games, I certianly didn't miss it. Because the game is so rich with other things.
You can buy property, you can rent it, you can get married, divorced, you can even marry a man(yuke).

I don't think this game is to short, its just that some people just blew by with the challenges as fast as they could.
But besides I don't like really long rpg games. Especially the turn based ones, atleast not any more.

The game is good as far as graphics and fighting system go, but the storyline sucks. It is far too linear for anyone to be overzealous about and replayability is somewhat limited, though I just replay it for the incredible graphics. Many of the things I was looking forward to in Fable did not make it into the game. The ability to change your character's appearance based on how good or evil he is, how much he eats, and what he fights like is fantastic. If I could change my mind, I would wait a few months for the price to dorp, then buy it. You can easily beat the game within 9 hours so I would almost recommend just renting it for a week. Almost.
