. . . and a stay-at-home mom. (Who came up with that phrase, anyway? I'm seldom home.) . . .
I've never really understood this term either, to be honest.

A better term would be . . . I don't know. Any suggestions?

How about
Full-time parent
or
Full-time Homemaker

Homemaker is a beautiful term ... one who makes a home!

I like the full-time parent one, however I can name several "working" moms (meaning they work outside the home) that also qualify as full-time parents. By the same token I can also name a couple of moms who do not work outside the home that can barely qualify as even "part-time" parents.

As close as I can tell, a "stay at home" or full-time" parent is used to describe a parent who does not hold a paying job. Would that be a correct assessment, do you think?

Sorry, I know I'm putting too much thought into this!!! Just wanted to see what others' opinions were on this subject. Personally, I think a parent is a parent.

Under my profile at this site, I listed my occupation as "Family Life Style Coordinator".....it's a little lame, but I'm not really the type to leave somthing like that blank.

I'm open to other ideas too. "Homemaker" should be a title of pride, but unfortunately, people who don't know me well tend to think I can't have a conversation, beyond what cookies I have baked lately, when I use that phrase. "Stay-at-home-mom" is accomplishing just about the same thing. It's just the more contemporary term.

Wherever anyone wants to go with this....;)

P.S. And Hi , Pepperoni!, I never had a chance to say so earlier!

That makes me wonder how far can I get with my imperfect English, hehe? Glad you don't kick me outta here when I say something that does not sound so correct, whether it be lack of correct grammar, ''innovative'' spelling ... or my opinions about things ^_^
