  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I hope I don't see a lot of snow this year even though it is beautiful...people drive crazy.

I went water skiing once(I say twice, first and last)...never got to a standing position and had a bruise butt the next day ^_^

Evening folks

Evening.

I went rollerskating once kind of.
I put the skates on but could not stand up on them comfortably.
So I took them off and watched the rest of the church group skate.

Skating (roller and ice) I can do...not so great with the rollerblades though. My daughters got me a pair one year for Christmas.

Guess what??!! I started my Christmas shopping. This is the first time in ages that I started this early. I'm usually the biggest procrastinator you could meet. I'm always out Christmas Eve finishing what I need to do.

Any skiers in the house??
Not really. I learned how to waterski the summer I spent in Arkansas, when my parents were getting divorced. That was, oh gosh...30 years ago? And I learned how to snow sky in my early twenties. Never really got good at it. I think you need to be somewhat fearless. And I'm inherantly so not a risk taker.

It hasn't snowed here yet. It's actually been unseasonally warm. Should be along sometime soon though.

I've never lived where it snowed much. Where I lived 6 months ago, it only snowed, maybe a couple of days a year, if that. But, we used to go to the mountains often. That's the cool thing about California, it has it all.

Now, I'm a Midwesterner. And I look forward to the snow. I hear from the locals that, that's not really the way I should be feeling, though. I think learning to drive in it is what I'm the most aprehensive about. Fortunately, I don't have to drive far for very much.

There are no mountains here! Guess, if I wanted to ski, it would have to be cross country! :D

That's great!

I started my Christmas shopping too, just.

I used to roller skate constantly when I was a kid. But, I didn't learn how to ice skate until I was in my twenties. We had an indoor ice skating rink. We have a small lake in our neighborhood. I wonder if it will freeze over this Winter. And if it does, if people skate on it. I don't know if I would get out there and skate though. I embarrass easily.

I'm such a klutz that I don't embarass too easily, I've fallen down in front of a b/f and then once split my pants at Sam's Club ^_^ I laugh more at myself than anyone does.

I have an idea, if it freezes over, go out there in the middle of the night...leave DH with the kids while they are sleeping and head to the frozen lake. No one else will be there and you'll still be able to enjoy skating.

I'm almost inhumanly graceful. :D I never fall. I don't think I even fell much as a child. But, I think maybe that's because I'm so aware of other people and care so much about what they may think (or more accurately what they may say to ridicule me)...that I don't do anything until I'm reasonably sure I can do it well. Not a risk taker, at all.

You remind me of my mother. She had falling down and rolling back up laughing, to an art form. I hit her with my car once. Accidentally backed into her. (she wasn't hurt..I didn't actually put my foot on the gas peddle) And she rolled onto the grass next to the street and rolled right back up laughing her head off. I think that's a great thing to be able to laugh at yourself like that. I'm only now becoming confident enough to do that.

No thank you. :D What if the ice was thin? I could fall in...and then I would die right? Because nobody would be there to notice? brrr, not the way I want to go. Besides the lake is at the back of peoples yards. I'm sure I would wake them up...."it's that Crazy Californian." I can just hear it now. :D

I cried when I got my first bicycle for Christmas. Shows you how not a risk taker I am. :D I used to walk that bike everywhere. :D

Oddly...I did go out for sports, climbed trees and learned to drive. So, maybe it's the possibility of falling in public, that I have qualms about. :D
