This is my first post in these forums, and first off, I would like to say that I have been professionally diagnosed with Autism, Chronic Depression, and Schizophrenia. I was diagnosed with Autism and Schizophrenia at ages 3, and 7, however depression was brought up more recently.

I however, am getting off topic. My psychiatrist says that part of my disorders are seeing the world differently then everyone else. After I was diagnosed with these conditions, I was given an IQ test at age 8, on which I scored a 143.

I do not know if it is because my IQ is higher than normal, or if it stems from me being Autistic, and Schizophrenic, however, I have real concern for going to Hell. This has been troubling me ever since I started going to church. I used to think that since I accepted Jesus as my savior, I wouldn't have to worry about this. But when me and my youth pastor started talking the other week (He is a good guy, and helps me with a lot of things), the topic of the unpardonable sin came up.

Now I do not know why I can't block it out of my mind, but I can't even sleep at night, thinking about this. If I am not mistaken, when God flooded the Earth only 8 people were saved. Is this extreme amount of unsaved people still around today, because of the unpardonable sin? I thought that Christianity was in the top 3 religions in the world, yet the majority of mankind goes to Hell?

Also I am confused on another subject. If at the end, we are to be judged for our wickedness and then thrown in the Lake Of Fire, what does this mean? Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are not saved ,you are put in the Lake Of Fire for eternity. So what is the judging about?

Please help me with this, I am so concerned and it kills me just thinking about this topic. Is it because of my condition, or do you have the same concerns as well?

There is a short answer:

It is the Holy Spirit who convicts us of sin [John 16:9]. If God has decided your sins are beyond pardon, He would withdraw the Holy Spirit and you would be apathetic toward sin or Hell. This is known as a seared conscience [1Tim. 4:2].

Long answer:

Demons frequently take advantage of those of us with neurological & psychological disorders. To combat this, you & I need to pay extra attention to our spiritual diets (when we have a choice in the matter).

Being exposed to God's Word every chance we get (reading, hearing through music, preaching & teaching) and praying. Scriptures include:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you." Php. 4:6-9

and

"You will keep in perfect peace
him whose mind is steadfast,
because he trusts in you." Isa. 26:3

If you look at the OCD forum you will see you are far from alone. The technical term for what you are probably experiencing is Scrupulosity. My husband went through a period of this many years back and it is unbelievably stressful.

This is more of a spiritual fight then a natural one. Demons have a job and that is to turn you away from Christ. Continue to praise, pray and memorize scripture to keep your mind strong. And if you know mature Christians that will pray for you by all means ask them for their time and support.

I have to think of a few things; a few years ago when I was really young in faith, I felt very guilty (or rather, a whole lot of shame) about some sin that I couldn't get rid of.
I then learned that text, that there is no judgement for who is in Christ (Romans 8:1) and I learned to hold on to that.

this page tells a lot of what the unforgivanable sin is - or what it is not

I've gone through similar things. God one day gave me a word.

You see, I know I'm not a perfect Christian. Many times I don't feel worthy to call myself one, and one time during praise and worship, I didn't really feel like doing it because I didn't feel worthy, but God gave a thought to me, that said this, "Remember that you are a sinner saved by grace."

What it means to me is that I didn't earn my salvation; it was given to me. I didn't qualify for it. It is an appointed gift. The flipside of the coin is that while I couldn't have earned, what could I really do to lose it? If God gives you a gift that you can't have earned, will he condemn you for not maintaining it? I'm not totally sure about OSAS, but God knows those who love Him. I really believe salvation is a hard thing to lose.

As for judging, we will simply answer for what we have done, what we did do, what we didn't do, etc. It doesn't mean we will be tossed away, for our names our in the Book of Life, and those whose names are in enter eternal life. Your reward (I believe) may be influenced by what you did with your life on Earth, but those who believe in Christ as their Savior will enter eternal life. That means you too :)

The days before the flood were extremely wicked days, far more wicked than I believe the world has ever been since those days. Many believe that the creatures known as the nephilim were mixes between humans and angels (produced by unnatural relations), producing very violent types and evil offspring. I'm not entirely sure of how true that is, though sources such as the Book of Enoch give pre-flood details, although what's accurate and what isn't is not entirely certain in many cases, though much of it may be (one part is quoted in the book of Jude). Only Noah and his family loved God. Men had 120 years to get their lives straight, but in all that time, not one repented. If they did, they didn't last long.

I was scared of the whole unpardonable sin thing too, but if you are concerned about having done it, I don't think you've done, because obviously your heart is still in pleasing God and doing as He wants you to do. That's a sign the Holy Spirit is still working in your life. Some also believe it's a sin exclusive to the time of Jesus, since it was so obvious from His character, His miracles, His love, and everything about Him, that He definitely was not of the devil (which is what He was accused of by the Pharisees). They didn't think twice before they spoke or try and decide if that was the case, but they assumed, because what they wanted from the people was different than what God wanted, and so not even God's own hand could move them. Don't read that and think that if you've ever gone contrary to God's will or move that you've committed the sin; the Pharisees didn't care at all what God wanted (even if they said they did). They would much rather kill God than believe in His Son (and that's what they did). You're safe.

I pray God brings assurance into your mind as well friend. I hope this assures you. God loves you, and you are in His hands. Sin has no power to snatch you away.
