• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You can label it as evil or a crime or whatever. It's still sin.

By the way, I don't practice a religion.

Murder is a crime as defined by the law. Society says it is evil. Religion says it is a sin. And you are a part of a religion, I really don't care what you mean by practice.

You can't just ignore definitions whenever you don't like them. That's no better than AV claiming he's not a Homo Sapien.
You are comparing apple to orange crates.

Try this: how concerned are you about the possible defects in the flying mechanisms of current model magic carpets? Do you think that ignoring them will make them go away?

Um, no. God says murder is a sin.

I am no part of any religion.

Your god says murder is a sin. You are a part of a religion. The fact that you think one god makes the rules and you obey them pretty much solidifies that.

Apparently you didn't understand a word of the bible you supposedly
read from "front to back".

Not eating pork was a requirement for the Israelites only to keep them
separate from their heathen neighbors. Pagans often sacrificed pigs to their
idols so touching one was deemed unclean and kept them away from those
pagan practices.

People usually did not cook their meat well and pork has to be cooked
well. It carries many diseases other meats do not. Those people did not
know about microscopic pathogens but of course God did.

That commandment has no bearing to the modern gentile Christian.

Hmm? This reminds me of the sort of information one might might find in a little green and yellow book called 'None of these diseases'

As far as I understand it, there is only one primary definition of God that is for all peoples, everywhere. In that sense the one's who are carrying that message are those who teach what Christ taught.

The first part of my reply was a toss over from a thread where I was navigating this very tender topic with LOUDMOUTH. ^_^ (read here)
The second part (in red) is a response to ETERNAL DRAGON. (above)

People of the Hindu faith would be interested to hear that. Jews and Muslims would also be surprised that they must use the Christian definition.

This is being dealt with elsewhere. (read here)

In the other thread, you mention "the primary definition of God, according to the Bible"

If we are talking about a single definition of God "for all peoples, everywhere" we would need to establish the supremacy of the Bible as a source of such a definition. Even if we are just talking about God within the Abrahamic religions, we would still need to establish the supremacy of the Bible over books like the Talmud, Quran, and Book of Mormon.

Without having to do that, there is a single definition which applies to all major Monotheistic religion, of which the BOOK OF MORMON is a dubious source. I'm not going to say that all Mormons are Polytheists, but it's certainly an area that requires considerable knowledge of their theology (which btw. evolves) The definition of God, that I am referring to, is once again being dealt with elsewhere. (here)

Just as it's always been sold and there's nothing wrong with that, if it comforts people why not let them use it?
the problems start when people see their beliefs as more than just a comfort blanket and start to become real and true.

Fox Moldy,

Seeing as you rode in here, on another gringo's pony, why don't you have a crack at my comment (here) ^_^

I don't know which part you wanted me to tackle but the part above is completely true.
The US is the worlds policemen and that's just about it, the best of most everything else is controlled from outside the US.

Preferably the stuff which relates to the O.P and subsequent posts to this thread.

My faith icon shows "Christian" as in "born again Christian". It is not
a religion.

Religion is social. Christianity is personal.

You don't consider being a Christian as having religious beliefs?

Are you one who claims those who trust science as having religious beliefs?

No, I do not. ("Born again Christian" to be specific. "Christian" is a bit generic.)

And no, I do not.

What keeps each individual from finding their own joy, before extinction?

That would be the red herring, embedded in my O.P. to ferret out religious folks.

My question, is the primary focus of my OP:

Neo-matrix.jpg

'But where do we find this New Man, this upgrade from Modern Man? Will he evolve, or is he destined to go extinct?' *

So let's do science girls and boys.

'....Finally, can we say what direction human evolution will take in the future? This is a fascinating question to consider but impossible to answer because of innumerable unknown factors. Though, it is certain that we will continue to evolve until we reach the point of extinction.'

Yes, this is bhmste's blind spot. It's common amongst ex-Roman Catholics (who were nominal, not spiritual) John 3.

As i posted already.

Um, this 'new man' is us. We will continue to adapt to our situation. Thus far, the best super power that might move towards fixation is lactose tolerance. It's not likely to get us in with the X-men, but it's something.

In a very present time sense, depending of course on your understanding of 'everything' -- the 'new man' is becoming with each passing nanosecond more like Christ and thereby will survive regardless of any future extinctions.
