I assume you believe God created man correct?
So, if Ford is responsible when they design and build a car that blows up when it is struck from behind, why wouldn't God be responsible for creating the flaws in man?
<edit> some people, are not comfortable believing in something they can not reconcile with reality.
Sure. Name one that could demonstrate that the Jesus character in the bible was reality.'....with [their version of] reality.'
Unless by 'some people' you are referring to some of the greatest minds in human history -- and we'll have to include Jesus in there too, right?![]()
"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away." - Philip K. Dickwhat is your version of reality?

Firstly, do you think that you need to answer bhmste's question -- because you are somehow his savior?
Secondly, do you really think that this is best sort of question, you want to ask someone who actually has the data?
Thirdly, if you've been paying attention (instead of trying to impress your children) -- you'd have noticed that I don't rely upon (a) the historical arguments (both biblical and secular books, or NDE claims - refer: Dr. Gary Habermas) for the existence of Jesus of Nazareth, or upon the (b) apologetic arguments for the existence of the God of the Bible. (refer: Dr. William Lane-Craig)
As already discussed, I place my confidence in prayer and "light" reading of sacred texts and others.
Now that I've made my position clear (read the previous sentence, just in case you forgot) this is how a Christian who is a historicist might do it:
Not!
Seeing as you've decided to take this line (not a wise move, unless you want to be among fellow Jesus Mythers -- an ever diminishing population of deluded individuals), we have another difficulty. Before we head off into the obvious stuff, which historians get all excited about : 'evidence' based arguments or those like WLC who engages in Philosophical arguments (for the existence of God etc.) -- I've one tiny question for you:
HOW DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU KNOW?
I.O.W. Which of the four best describes your position:
1. Absolutism
2. Relativism
3. Postmodernism
4. Skepticism
I gravitate towards accepting realities that can be independently confirmed outside of my own subjective perceptions, especially when it comes to important topics such as whether a God exists and other life altering topics.
You see, I desire to believe in as many true things as possible and not believe in as many false things as possible.
Of course, some people may benefit from believing in something that I don't believe in and that is just peachy, if it helps them.
Don't you understand that not everyone thinks the same as you do?
Kind of my point to begin with and I have mentioned many times before in regards to our individual psychological needs and how they impact our beliefs.
As stated, when it comes to important topics, I don't solely rely on my subjective feelings and look for independent outside evidence that is there for all to see and is not reliant on subjective interpretation. Facts and objective evidence, don't go away, just because someone does not like them.
Thank you for elaborating. All duly noted. Not much in this regard is that new to me. I'll also be perusing all your posts to this forum and elsewhere so that I may effectively shake you the old dry bones.
I am actually nearly in transit, and would appreciate it if you found someone else to dialogue with. I don't want to unsubscribe from this thread, but your posts are not really something I can engage right now.
Kindly,
lewiscalledhimmaster.
Could you clarify the meaning of what I have bolded above.
Don't worry, it won't hurt. Why in your mind, would that be necessary?
That would be the "open" part of an "open forum". There is the PM option if you wish to keep this private.Firstly, do you think that you need to answer bhmste's question -- because you are somehow his savior?
I would, but they do not appear to post here.Secondly, do you really think that this is best sort of question, you want to ask someone who actually has the data?
lol. It's not just me and mine. Think of all the lurkers that do not even have accounts here, but read these threads. Govern yourself accordingly.Thirdly, if you've been paying attention (instead of trying to impress your children)
It's not like all that stuff have not been dragged through these forums at some point.-- you'd have noticed that I don't rely upon (a) the historical arguments (both biblical and secular books, or NDE claims - refer: Dr. Gary Habermas) for the existence of Jesus of Nazareth, or upon the (b) apologetic arguments for the existence of the God of the Bible. You make it up as you go along. As already discussed, I place my confidence in prayer and "light" reading of sacred texts and others.
Do you find that the insulting of others lends more weight to your arguments? Now that I've made my position clear (read the previous sentence, just in case you forgot) this is how a Christian who is a historicist might do it:
Not!
Seeing as you've decided to take this line (not a wise move, unless you want to be among fellow Jesus Mythers -- an ever diminishing population of deluded individuals),
I will not answer that question, as I perceive it as an attempt on your part to put me on the defensive. If you cannot present your data/argument/hypothesis in a manner free of "isms", then I will conclude that your 'bluff and bluster' of 'having the data' was simply that.we have another difficulty.
