  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It is a painting of Deirdre of the Sorrows. I only used the picture because I liked it, not for any meaning behind the story. The reason why I like how the picture looks is because it seems quiet and solemn.

Ohhh. From a distance, it looks like a Nazgul :p

I've had avatars of myself up but thought I needed a change. This one is from a video game, Final Fantasy. I don't play it anymore but this was my fave character. When I see it, I smile...brings back fun memories of the game. :)

Which one was that?

I haven't played any later than 11.

I did a Google search for an angel that would represent coming out of darkness and into the light. I like this one, because she seems to be saying, "what you've seen in the darkness, keep it secret in the light." Of course, the light can be shared freely, but certain things from the darkness should be kept there. It makes me think of the allegory of the cave.

This ribbon represents POTS/dysautonomia awareness. My mom and I are both being evaluated for POTS. The doctors are fairly sure I have it, but have to run a couple more tests to be sure.

Actually, I painted this. ^

This was part of a study I did of Toulouse Lautrec as a Senior Project in High School Art. I had to expand small sections of Toulouse's original work, and then I had to use his style to do an my own original painting.

Here is the full size version of the study I did.

I don't have a picture of the original work because my paintings kept winning awards in the School District Art Show and got put into private collections. T_T

(snip) 1. Post a picture/link of your avatar, so we'll know what your post is referring to, even if you change your avatar in the future.

2. Explain why you chose your avatar.

It's a plastic pink flamingo. Not much to explain. :p

People's avatars often say something about them, or their state of mind - the point of this thread, I imagine - is to give people a chance to reveal that themselves.

For example, mine is a bit of vanity - showing off my amateur animation abilities - and I like Skyrim.

Mine is a 113 cubic inch Ultima "El Bruto" V-twin. When I got the pic I wasn't looking for any motor in particular, I just wanted something that was chromed out, and this one seemed to work the best with the avatar size which is provided. I would put my own motorcycle engine up there, but mine isn't nearly as impressive - mine's nice, but the chrome on it is all covers so out of the bike/on stands it wouldn't look as good.

I had a GB Packers avatar for a long time previously, but this one has grown on me a bit I guess.

My avatar is a dog, because I like dogs, especially corgis and I am planning to get one some day after finding a new place to live and what not.

The deeper story behind my affinity for dogs is about a dog of mine that I had when I was a child. I was going through a rough time, and he did something that I wanted him to understand to be very bad, or something, and I'm afraid that I used that as an excuse to beat him, and way too hard at that. Anyways, he was my best friend, and I knew he didn't really deserve it. It broke my heart, I never did it again, and I'll never forget it. I learned an important lesson that day: that rules and obedience cannot fix the heart.
