Experiencing God's Peace

You know there is so many ways that people try to experience peace. They buy paintings, listen to music. People like to listen to waterfalls or rain to have peace or to fall asleep. But our wonderfull Lord has provided the real peace! AHHH.

In John16:33 -"These things I have spoken to you,so that in Me you have peace, In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have oveercome the world." We have the provision of God's perfect peace in every circumstance through all of life.

&nbsp; There has been a couple of hard times in my life and I'm sure all of yours as well. And I forget about the Lord's awesome peace through that everything he is right there, ready and willing to get us through it. <IMG onmouseover="this.style.cursor='hand';" style="CURSOR: hand" onclick="smilie('');" alt=pray src="http://www.christianforums.com/images/smilies/pray.gif" border=0>

You know, I couldn't really experience God's peace fully until I got baptized.

I was a believer and follower of Christ for 12 years before I finally got baptized, and it somehow changed me in a way I can't explain. It was just a dunking in water, but it was like, more.

I am a different person than I was before I got dunked. I'm happier and more at peace, less depressed, and more in love with God and more eager to really please him.

What do you think about that?

&nbsp;Well I got saved when I was 9 and baptized at 14. I belive that you can be saved without being baptized that it is really just a public showing. Maybe it was just&nbsp;the finalization of it. I think though, if you feel at peace with God and are close to him then thts what counts!! May God bless you!!

There was a period of time over the summer. On the externals it was a tough summer i was off work, until september, iwas trying to find a part time job, and me and my wife were strugling with money problems.
But the Lord had other plans: instead i spent that two weeks with him, and even through those problems, i felt a tremendous sense of peace , because i was close to him.

so i think i can boil it down to a simple formula:

Closer to the Lord = more peace

Yes so true. Praise God the times I have been in hospital or my children and we have been looking death in the face. The peace of God has been there to comfort and help us through. God just amazes me how much he care's and is always with us.

And how his peace is so noticeable to the unsaved. I have been asked what is it with you you are so at peace. And I have been able to say it not me but God. That gives me peace. Praise God. Praise God.

Thanks for the post.

AMEN!

I will definitely agree that it is in those moments when I am far from Him that I am not at peace, and as I return to Him and draw near to Him, His peace returns to me.&nbsp; It is such a blessed feeling.

John 14:27: "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

John 14:1: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."

This, I believe, is where our real peace comes in. Not just in our believing in Jesus, but the exercise of our belief, faith and trust in Him. This is the pont at which we receive that Peace that passes understanding.
