  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,
I have always had a fascination with Christianity but my household growing up where nothing NICE was ever said about any church , i never had a chance to investigate it properly out of fear of what my family would think.
After my Marriage (3 years back) i found myself reading the bible on and off more and more until you reach the present time where i am constantly thinking about God. Now i find myself trying to be a better person and giving up sins as fast as i can to try to change who i am .
About 2 months back i decided to start actively praying as i have never really tried. Then a interesting thing happened a few night ago when i had finished preying, i was laying in bed thinking about GOD and i become overcome with the feeling of Joy so much that i started crying . Now every time i think about this experience i brings tears to my eyes again and a great feeling of happiness.
So now to the question, Am i crazy, is this all in my head or could this be some kind of message from God.

Has anyone else ever had similar experiences?

Experiencing God's love can make the eyes overflow with tears, because of the deep, mysterious, unutterable bliss which fills the heart. He reveals himself as Father, Friend, Helper, Savior, Lover, Protector, Divine Creator, God.

1 Peter 1:8
. . . you rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.

Psalm 118:23-24
This is the LORD'S doing; it is marvellous in our eyes. This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Isaiah 12:3
With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

Isaiah 35:10
And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

What a wonderful experience. You are much more inclined toward the Lord than was I, as it took me years to get past my mind and allow the Lord into my spirit and soul.

We are not commending ourselves to you again but giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance and not about what is in the heart.
For if we are beside ourselves, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you.
For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died;
and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised. -2Cor 5:12-15

No you're not crazy. Just be aware that you may well not continue that kind of high permanently. Being a follower of Jesus isn't supposed to be primarily about the emotions, though it involves your whole person, emotions included.

There are plenty of friendly churches out there, though we do hear stories of ones that aren't. My experiences have all been good, even visiting churches of very different kinds than my own.

Welcome to CF! Joy is a wonderful part of the life of a Christian. Joy can always be with us even when happiness is fleeting. There will be many times in your life where we'll face suffering, sorrow, and pain, but even then we can hang on to joy... because joy comes from hope. Joy can be found among the poorest of the poor, but the rich and famous sometimes have no joy. No matter how much "pleasure" you have, you can't have true joy without real hope.

I really hope this is real life eternal for you, friend. Just be confident that you are not just acknowledging God as the deity --"devils also believe and tremble" (James 2:19). God's salvation is IN His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, so we must receive and be thankful and devoted to the Lord Jesus. Look up always!

I too have had this experience. I've prayed to God and in my prayer I have experience a real sense of Joy an overwhelming joy and I feel such reverence and AMAZING love for our Father in heaven. It is love beyond imagination!! I always ask God for forgivess for all my daily sins that I have knowingly or unknowingly done then I reflect on his love and worship Him in my own way. I love God my Father so much and he really does let his presence be felt in those times.

The other day I was listening to the Gospel of Matthew on my Ipod and it came to the part where Jesus was at the Mt of Olives overcome with grief and his "Soul was crushed with grief to the point of death" due to the realisation that the next day he would be put to death and he fell to the ground and prayed to God for relief but he wanted God's will done. Now I'm a grown man but this brought me to real tears and it does to this day. I feel so bad for what we put him through and I am felt so sorry for the Son Of God. How horrible it must have been but how faithful was He the Son of God to do this for each of us. Thank you so much Jesus! It was a real insight into his Divine Character and his humilty and it makes me feel like I know Him so well and I really love him so much for this amazing sacrifice.

Thanks for being open about it -- how nice to have that tangible sensation of God being involved in your life.

Sometimes I will be in a church service and feel as though some sort of emotional healing is going on inside, without any input on my part. If someone were to stop and ask me if everything was okay, I wouldn't have known what to say. Very odd, but the Holy Spirit continually works in and through us. Sometimes we feel it, sometimes we don't.

I've had a few really awesome experiences with the Lord.

1) I have soem lonely issues, but one night I was praying, and I was feeling really desperate and lonely, and it happened to be the first time I told Jesus that I loved him, and this AMAZING feeling came over me instantly, and I was calm and happy and I fell asleep. The next morning was absolutely amazing too. I just felt SOOOO GOOD for about a week and a half. Now whenever I'm feeling lonely I just think of that experience and I feel better.

2) I was feeling bad one time, I don't remember what about, so I took a hot shower, and I prayed a little while I was sitting there, and I just broke down in tears, and I was really sad, but it felt really good to cry, because it really felt like He was listening.

3) This isn't exactly an experience per se, but It was definitely divine intervention. When I was fifteen I got a guitar for my birthday and started taking lessons. A friend of mine recommended the guy she was taking lessons with, and now that guy is one of my best friends. He's an awesome musician, but he's also helped me get through some hard stuff, and honestly, if I hadn't met him, I probably never would have accepted Christ. My teacher was a HUGE part of that.

So yeah, stuff...

A funny thing happened recently -- I was driving home from church and sensed God telling me to turn in to visit a church I used to attend. I resisted, being tired and having things I wanted to get done, also wondered if their service was already over.

I went the following week, and they mentioned how a visiting prophet spoke of preparing for church growth the last week. If I had showed up mid-service like God nudged me to, I probably would have walked in right after the prophet said to expect more people! Lol.

Things like that are a big encouragement to people, because we get so reliant on our brains and resist promises and nudges. Following through builds everyone's faith. Good thing God puts up with our ornery nature.
