My friend sent me the following to assist me in implementing an exercise plan. He specified that it is for people in their 40's, since he knows that's my category.

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.

After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato sacks.

Then try 50-lb potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each sack.

Kristen....you are so funny. I thought this was a real exercise thread.....you had me going for a minute....okay....til near the end...^_^

I am looking for an exercise buddy to be accountable to. :)
I could be yours if you'd be mine. ;) Oh wait... that requires commitment! Okay... well.. I'll commit. Glad you liked the exercise... I think it's about my speed at this minute. :D

okay....we could start tomorrow....notice I didn't say today....

I will post here after I exercise (hopefully in the morning). We could rep each other for encouragement. (Even if you don't exercise....I will still rep ya.)
Want to also post if we ate healthy that day?

(I will start....today I ate everything in front of me...It was a bad PMS day.) That is why I need accountability. Tomorrow can only be better.

Ugh. Okay, tomorrow is good so I can be bad tonight. :p ^_^ Truth - I've already been bad today. Yes, we can post when eating healthy.

Alright, I need to try to exercise 3x per week - that's up from 0x per week. :swoon:  So tomorrow we start... I'll either walk or ride my bike. Anyone else into this torture... uh.. I mean accountability? Post and grab a buddy! :ebil:

So, how often is your goal for exercising?

Gonna go for 3 times a week up from 0 times a week. I am going to either exercise to my Richard Simmons videos (he makes me feel good about myself) walk on my treadmill or ride my exercise bike. Maybe do one day of each to vary things up. (I even have a gazelle in the basement) I want to gradually add my weights again for strength building...It has been a while since I worked out.

Plus since I already ate my white chocolate lamb that I got myself for Easter I won't feel deprived about not having it.

To good health habits. We can do it.

Odds are, this post won't be the newest one (cuz of the jumping posts syndrome :p ), however, here's the update. Today is Monday at 1220p Eastern.

Eating over the weekend was just plain bad. However, I did do some high-step walking in at home both days, though not very long. I'm wayyyyyyyy out of shape.

So far today, I've done no exercise, but I went to the grocery first thing to get foods that I can eat and stay within my old calorie/carbs program for my diabetes. So far I'm doing well with breakfast and lunch. Thanks for the inspiration.

So... how're you doing?

well. I started out buying healthy food and had the best intentions....haven't exercised this week yet....have been feeling overwhelmded at the job....so exercise would be the best thing in the world for me....I know that....but instead I went out and bought chocolate peanut butter balls and took them into work, and ate some of them.

Please don't give up on me. I really want to do this. Wish you lived close and could drag my butt out the door to go walking in the neighborhood or to the gym.

I wish we lived close too!

I've ate well each day this week, sticking to my diabetic diet, so that's going good. I haven't exercised the last two days, but that's okay, there are 3 days to go. :D

So.... get up young lady! What would it take for you to get in 5 minutes of exercise? Could you walk up and down the halls at work?

That was a good one! :D

Glad ya liked it.
