On an unrelated note, why do people keep calling me 'he'? :/
Because they don't take the time to sound your name out? LOKISDOTTIR
Maybe because when someone thinks of Asartu they think of big guys with a beard?

He didn't just go to church

A quick question ... if an infant is baptized, receives first communion, and then is confirmed as a Catholic christian by the age of 15, is he or she then a convert to Christianity? If yes, then I officially deconverted ...
Being confirmed as a Catholic requries an active choice. Its not just "going to church"

From my experience the only thing that makes someone a real Christian is their belief that they are. I realize there are some folks that demand the proof of salvation (IE: tears of repentance, an emo moment in church, speaking tongues, etc.) but for the majority of Christians that isn't necessary. It's your word against..well, nobody. If you say your a Christian I believe you because there is no hand stamp or membership card issued by god. Sometimes people stop believing it making them 'ex Christians'. I suppose you could replace the word 'Christian' with any faith and it would work just the same.

I guess that I can call myself an ex-Christian. I believed it like nothing else. You could have told me that the sky was blue because of the light that was refracted by the sun and I could say something like, no it isn't, God wanted it blue so he made it that way. I truly with all of my heart believed. And when I slowly, "deconverted" it was a very painful thing for me. I think that a lot of Christians look at people who deconverted and just think that they woke up one day and decided not to believe anymore. This is rarely the case. My process was very long and very painful. I felt like I was lied to. I was really hurt when I learned that I wasn't on the right path and that I had ruined so many relationships, including mine with my family because of it. So that idea that I was never a true Christian is a complete lack of understanding. It has taken me about 7 years or so to even be comfortable with the idea of Christianity and speaking with Christians in general about their faith.
