I laughed because I think you guys are just as mis-guided as you think I am.
Aslan,
I ask that you think about your comment here. You may think that the scientists who believe evolution are "misguided" but indeed you must agree that there are many people who understand the subject very well.
If you are sure they are misguided you must defend your stance. Why are they misguided? Clearly the video doesn't stand up to the scrutiny the evolutionists here put it to.
Perhaps the appropriate response is not "you guys are misguided" but rather "I could learn".
I am offended by Christians who don't accept that they might be wrong or uneducated about a topic.
I sure would like to be amazingly so sure of my knowledge that I knew there was nothing I could learn. But experience in life has taught me differently.
I work daily as a scientist and I live the adage that the older I get the less I seem to know.
I will assume that since the best "refutation" you could muster was a poorly done "Kurt Cameron Wannabe" spouting such poor misinterpretations of science that you yourself don't have a significant scientific background. That's OK. Really. Not everyone is meant to be a scientist.
But keep in mind that just because you may have an "opinion" on the topic of evolution does not mean your opinion is "correct", anymore than my desire to have an opinion on quantum electrodynamics (which I so do NOT understand that it would make a physicist laugh). But I don't have the right to expect my opinion to be treated as valid.
I ask that you accept that there are people who understand these things a lot better than you do and not allow yourself to be swayed by a single video or an intense feeling based on the "perceived yuck factor" that so many Creationists play off of when slamming evolution.
Evolution is very important. It isn't playtime "devil" stuff. It isn't a bunch of evil wizards trying to kill god in a clearing in the forest. It isn't a bunch of devil-worshippers trying to damn everyone to hell. Honest. It may be hard to understand this considering what you've probably been taught by your minister. It ain't that thing.
It is a valid and very important aspect of science. It has nothing whatsoever to do with evil.
I would hope you will believe me when I say, for the umpteenth time on this board, I've worked around paleontologists and in my 20+ years in science I've never met one, not ONE who believed evolution so that they could deny God. Not one.
If anyone tells you the vast majority of scientists are doing their job in an effort to deny God in any way laugh in their faces. It is a lie. Scientists are just doing their job to understand the earth and physical reality. No hidden agenda there.
