  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

WHERE IS THE CREATIVE WRITING IN EVOLUTION?

In the text books, in the science books, in any book written by a evo on evolution you will find fact, fiction blended together using creative writting. They just do not seem to be able to distinguish between science and science fiction and this leaves their authority as a expert very questionable.

Another claim, no evidence.

ARGUMENTUM AD NAUSEUM. You repeating the same thing over and over again does not make it true.

I choose not to listen to lies, I choose to abide in the truth. What is your choice, what do you choose?
My Beloved God gave us science as a window into how He Creates....So I choose my Beloved God and the gifts through science He has given us to know His Creation better.

As I love my Beloved God, I'd be totally remiss if I did not take advantage of these windows He has given us into how He creates so I could know Him better.

Oh, I do not question that science is a valued tool that can help us to better understand our Bible. But that does not mean I accept the theory of evolution. No more then a lot of evolutionists accept the Bible.

Perhaps than, your not accepting the tools that God has given us to know His Creation better.

I would say the following is a more accurate analysis:

... in any book written by a creation "scientist" on evolution you will find some facts and a lot of fiction blended together using creative writing. They just do not seem to be able to distinguish between science and bible myths and this leaves their authority as an expert very questionable.

Perhaps creation science has shoot itself in the foot. I wonder about some of the things they come up with sometimes. There are some good creation scientists out there though.

There is all the evidence that you want. But you have to open your eyes and look. You can not bury your head in the sand and expect to see anything there. The Bible says that they are "without excuse".

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,

John, provide a specific example where "fiction" is presented in Evolution. Sweeping generalisations do not an argument make.

I don't care what the Bible says, that statement has nothing to do with what you are claiming.

This was an EXAMPLE of how the theory changes over time. If it was just a question of change it would not be so bad. The biggest problem is outright fraud and a lot of creative writting. The line between science and fiction can get pretty thin sometimes. Evos need to be a lot more honest and say: It could have happened this way but we do not know for sure with the limited amount of information we have. If you only have 10% of the information on something, then it is a pretty sure bet that your going to get it wrong. I have nothing against the imagination, but the Bible says that God does: "the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth" (Genesis 8:21) It is clear that we need to be careful when we use our imagination. Even if the intent of evos is good.

Gidday JohnR7,

Good heavens, how is a METAPHOR and example of scientific theory???

You do understand the difference between metaphor and theory do you not JohnR7?

A modern example is Jesus being called “my pilot” and “superstar”. I have heard these terms used. Using modern metaphors to describe Jesus - does this mean that today’s Christian concepts of Jesus must therefore necessarily be different to those of yesteryear? I reckon you would think me “bonkers” if I put that proposition to you – so why put its equivalent to me?

What has honesty got to do with the use of metaphor? Did you read where I wrote that both metaphors are still used?

Again, what has this got to do with metaphor. We know next to nothing about Jesus, yet does using the metaphor of “pilot”, “lamb”, “superstar”, or “light” mean that the concept of Jesus as savior must be bunk? How far, would you as a Christian, be prepared to push this?
