Evolutionists: If evolution was absolutely disproven, what would you do?

Evolution is proven false and 6 day creation is true! Now what?

  • I'd become a bible believing born again Christian.

  • I'd still believe it anyway.

  • I'd adapt my views to the bible.

  • I don't know.

I mean if the all forms of evolution were absolutely, positively, totally disproven. No ifs ands or buts. Say even an audible voice boomed from the sky and told you biblical creation were totally true. What would YOU do?

I'm asking an honest question and so I am looking for honest answers. I do not have hidden motives.

I'd go make some clam chowder, New England style, I'd put it inside of a hollowed out keyser bun and let gluttony get the best of me. If evolution was disproven, it would probably mean puctuated equilibrium was proven, so I'd go with that (I know it's a form of evolution, but technically it's not the same thing).

I guess if the Earth was proven to be 6,000 years old and the "fossil record" scam was exposed on an ABC special, I'd consider the bible's creation account.

You know this probably won't happen right?

First I might think I was hallucinating and see if anyone else heard the same voice. Then I would make sure that no one with a loud speaker was around. Etc.

But then I assume that you ment for the big booming voice to actually be God. In that case I may become a christian and adjust my philosophical views but it all depends. My scientific views would go towards creationism if it was supported by science (beyond booming voices).
I think I would be very curious why God was telling me this when there are bigger, more important issues he has remained quiet on.

The poll has a fatal flaw in that it presumes that if evolution is wrong, it means that creationism is true. That isn't necessarily the case. It would depend on what exactly falsified evolution.

If we're restricting it to evolution or creationism, and the falsification was a booming voice from the heavens, I'd probably become a provisional Christian mainly because I'd have an awful lot of questions I'd want to ask God.

Hmm... I'd want to know what observations evolution and then I'd keenly follow the controversy and the quest to learn what theories emerge to replace it. I find it a bit hard to imagine evolution being falsified outright and not modified. After all, I can't imagine what mechanism would server to prevent evolution!

(And, as a point of interest: the YECers are actually ardent evolutionists. Their whack ideas require evolution to work far more efficiently than any respectable scientist imagines it could. So going to a creationist model would actually be, in a weird way, an enormous boost for evolution.)

I for one would like to ask the booming voice why he should chose to boom his voice now when it would have been much simpler to have done his animals right in the first place instead of wasting so much effort in faking evolution in the first place. I mean, why bother to set up such an elaborate deception in the first place only to tear it down?

The poll seems to be missing an option. If evolution were falsified by scientific evidence, I would adapt my views to the new scientific evidence.

If it were scientifically proven that speciation, natural selection, etc doesn't happen, then I would adapt my views to science.

If evolution were disproven, I'd have a good think, which the ultimate result would be : "well, shucks." - and then continue on with things as normal.

Of course i'd eventually switch to whatever theory had the greatest support that i could see.

Since I am a Christian, and yes you can be a Christian and accept evolution too, I would have to question my faith in this new diety that is speaking from the sky. For evolution not to be true at this point in our study of God's creation, then a lot of false information has been planted in creation. I would want to know who planted all of this false information...

It cannot be satan, for the only time satan is given control of the Earth in a fashon that would allow that is in revalations (and then only if you look at it upside down and cross eyed) and the signs of satans taking power have not passed yet, so this new booming voiced god is out of step with the book he is proclaiming and thus not likely the Christian God.

If this new god says he planted it to test us then we know that it is not the Christian God since God promised in the Bible the He would not test us that way.

Lastly, since the Christian God said that nature pointed toward Him, I would be suspicious of any other god that suddenly showed up and said "NO, no, ignore nature and listen to my mysterious voice instead" I would have severe doubts that this god was the Christian God.

The way I see it, Christianity is in deep trouble if evolution is wrong.

Well, if evolution is untrue and biblical creationism is true, the entire scientific method is worthless. Yet it seems to be working rather well, all in all. I guess God the cosmic prankster would have finally come clean about his somewhat less than honest actions - I can only assume that this booming pronouncement would occur on April 1st.

Most of the people who answered here seem to have missed the second peice of the statement. It said "...and 6 day creation is true"

Now, assuming six day creation were proven true beyond reasonable doubt, in a real and scientfic sense what choice do you really have? I know I'd be a christian. Although I also know that this would never happen, but hypothetically speaking...

Why Christian? Why not Jewish or Muslim or Mormon or JW or any of the other derivitives that have sprouted from the OT/NT writings at one time or the other.

I'm sure there are other religions besides the ones I've named that have a 6 day creation, it's not just a Christian invention.

I guess if someone proved that god created all life (and that "god" and "created" have a scientific meaning), then I would be a theist. Possibly a Jew as, apart from the frightening spread of YE beliefs through the christian community, this is strictly Old Testament here and the NT should not be considered to be supported in any way.

I would also spend some time investigating other alternatives as there is a lot of baggage in the bible unrelated to the Genesis myth. Perhaps I would become a Genesis-only theist...

Yup, that's why I didn't vote. None of the responses make any sense to me.

Part of the problem is that TC directly copied aeroz's poll, when she needed to tweak the choices a bit.

I had to say I don't know. Evolution being found false does not mean that the Bible is literally truem it could be any other deity, alien or something else we haven't found yet.

We're running under the assumption that both evolution is proved false and creation is proved true. Not that because evolution is proven false creation true. At least that's what I think he's saying, though admittedly a most common mistake among creationists is to asssume that if evolution is false that creation is true, but I will try to be generous to his position to avoid creating a strawman.

As for alternate possibilities, just assume that somehow it was exactly as genesis said. So yes, while aliens might have created us, if these were the same aliens that produced Jesus and whatnot then I see nothing wrong with praising them. I think we could rule out another deity; what possible reason would it have to prove another religion true?
