• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There is NO evidence whatsoever that this could happen, how can nothing become something?

Does this mean you deny Genesis 1:1---that in the beginning, God created the universe? The Hebrew word used for "create" is bara', which means to create out of nothing.

NOPE!

There is a diffrenceIn creation :the earth was w/o form then God created everything.
In evolution: nothing became something on its own(w/o God).

In Christ,

Hector

C'mon Hector, the jig is up. Very few here believe that you're a YEC (or even a Christian) anymore. Time to own up, mate. Let the real YECs put forward their baseless claims - they don't need you to parody them any more.

Cheers,
Prax

"How is my not wanting to get into a debate with someone who does not ever reply to a debate chalenge and then offering to debate with you instead inconsistant??? "

As your peers, they are the ones that jump on people for not wanting to always no matter what debate with people. As I said, no consistancy at all, though its not suprising in the least.

Okay Louis... Who exactly are my "peers" in here? Who are these mysterious people with no concistancy that you wish to lump me in with?

Why does it matter what others say when you are talking to me? Do you think that I see these people outside of this forum? Do we go for drinks together and discuss how to bring an end to YEC as we know it?

LB,
So should we lump all of you creationists together based on Hector's or npetreley's trolling and hit and run posting? I guess that shows us that creationists have no desire whatsever to listen to a viewpoint besides their own, and if that is the case, why is there an evolution section on these forums? For creationists to get together and agree with each other?

consistancy. It clearly shows me bias among evolutionists, which I thought there was.

I was under the impression that we were not to lump people together and judge them for each others' faults. If you wish to show that Lewis Wildermuth is biased, you should show the biases in his specific posts and claims. It's not enough to say that there's a bias in something someone else said, and they agree on this particular issue.

Not really, no.

The fact is, evolution is no argument at all against God - only against one particular interpretation of the Bible. History is littered with understandings of the Bible which we abandoned when we learned new things about the world we live in. One more isn't going to change anything.

No one believes in evolution *because* it's an attack on God. Some people, not believing in God, would find young-earth creation a very poor explanation for life - in which case, they might look for another theory.

I think that dogmatism about YEC beliefs is a tool designed to separate people from Christ.

"He who begins by loving Christianity better than Truth will proceed by loving his own sect or church better than Christianity, and end by loving himself better than all."- Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834)

I think this is an exceptionally insightful thing. Truth does not come from falsehoods. Falsehoods do not come from truth. If, indeed, life evolves, then teaching that it does not is a falsehood, and no truth can come of it.

It seems to me that God is welcome to create us in whatever way He sees fit, and that He has left a lot of tools and equipment around suggesting a particular style of work; it strikes me as foolish to deny this.

The atheists who participate in these threads are mostly quite respectful of Christianity. They are not attacking the faith; they are attacking the senseless conflation of an eternal spiritual truth with a strange set of beliefs about scientific matters.

totally different subject. I'm lumping some people in because of inaction when approprate action is required. not because of inaction when inaction is required.

"why is there an evolution section on these forums? "

Probalby to appease evolutionists that have to talk about it :)

"I was under the impression that we were not to lump people together and judge them for each others' faults"

LOL, as per late you miss the point seebs ;) If I do X I get jumped on by evolutionsts LW does X but doesn't get jumped on. I have seen this occur several times and shows me a lack of consistancy. I even point it out and the don't do anything. I just found it very intersting and a very clear show of bias, that's all.
