  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How did we go from inorganic to organic?
We've always been organic. Carbon-based molecules spontaneously form all the time, both in pre-history and in the modern day. The question is how those organic molecules turned into life.

Note that 'organic' molecules are those with carbon in.

How did organic molecules turn into living organic molecules?
Through the spontaneous formation of semi-permeable micelles (lipid bubbles) and protein monomers. Monomers could float in and out of the micelles, and could collide and form polymers, which couldn't float in and out of micelles. So polymers which formed inside micelles were largely trapped there. All it takes is a polymer that's self-replicating, and you've effectively got life.

Do you have a biology book because you can buy them real cheap used from Amazon. Even you can get a $160 book for as little as 10 or 15 dollars. Then you can go in like a reference book and read the individual chapters that maybe of interest.

They say back before the big bang we had particles. As the universe began to expand the particles became atoms. So in the beginning you have physics. Positive, negative and neutral. It takes energy to turn particles into atoms. Then the atoms began to join together to form molecules. Here on earth they would take energy from the sun and convert that using photosynthesis. Next you
have organisms that somehow depend on each other. This is exp true after the big oxidation event. At first the oxidation was in geology. You see that pretty red color in the soil and rock formation. Then when the rocks could absorb no more oxygen life came along to convert that oxygen back.

The part I do not understand is when the animals began to devour one another. Some people say that was not a part of God's plan. Evolutionists say how can that be because there were dinos that clearly had teeth to devour one another. There are some people that have a metaphysical explanation. Science of course has evolution to try and explain the things we do not know or understand. Then religion also tries to come up with explanations. Some people believe that Satan fell a long time ago. Only Adam and Eve followed him in that rebellion fairy recently about 6,000 years ago.

Science is made up of different areas of study and they do not have any real unified theory. So there is really no one there to explain the whole process from start to finish. All the individual science people do is explain their area of study and that is a small part of all that is going on. To get a degree in science you have to study and take an intro class in all the different kinds of science. For example: Biology, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Social science, General science, Earth science and Computer Science are almost universally considered to be sciences. Of course some universities have more difficult requirements than others. Even though some people believe that 90% of life is just showing up.

So, in the beginning was the particles, & the particles were with energy, & the particles were the energy.

Can somebody define for me what "Survival of the Fittest" means?

Those that have adaptations that give them some benefit that makes it easier for them to survive (such as greater stamina to outrun predators, stronger jaws to eat food others can't, etc) will find that they will live longer than others in the herd, and thus the individuals with those adaptations will be able to have more offspring.

I think so. In my opinion the universe is either expanding or shrinking. They say the universe can shrink quite a bit. I think matter and energy always has and always well exist. There was a beginning to the universe, but energy and matter has always been here. Other people of course have other theories.
