Others do though.
And I don't find it 'incredibly offensive.'
In fact, over the years here, I've come to believe that people act offensive, just for [whatever reason].
Especially at the saying: "There are no atheists in foxholes."
You and your friends must be incredibly sensitive then, as I hear all the time how Christianity/creationism is responsible for our country being behind in the World Smarts Competition; and I take it with a grain of salt.
The problem lies in "Fundamental Extremists" in both religion and politics. In other words, the belief that their way is the only way.
Ya ... posting the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn is analogous to saying, "It's my way or the highway," isn't it?The problem lies in "Fundamental Extremists" in both religion and politics. In other words, the belief that their way is the only way.
Ya ... posting the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn is analogous to saying, "It's my way or the highway," isn't it?
Christianity being a religion aside, why would scientists rail against the Bible being taught in school, when the Bible teaches "love your enemies"?As I said, people misusing religion is the problem in the world, not religion itself.
That is not what I said and you know it. Shame on you.Ya ... posting the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn is analogous to saying, "It's my way or the highway," isn't it?
Christianity being a religion aside, why would scientists rail against the Bible being taught in school, when the Bible teaches "love your enemies"?
Then, after that, they have the gall to lump Christianity in with hate-your-enemy religions.
I don't get it.
But then, science today is doing Satan's work, so I guess I shouldn't act so ignorant.
I'll tell you what, scientists:
Let's all rail against putting carbon in steel, then stand around and pout that steel isn't nearly as strong as it should be, and is no better than plastic.
Sound fair?
What about countries that don't have this [phantom] stipulation in their constitution?Well, yes, since putting a copy of the Ten Commandments on a courthouse lawn would analogous to the US government endorsing the Christian religion over any other, which is something that is expressly stated that the government shouldn't do in the US Constitution.
What about countries that don't have this [phantom] stipulation in their constitution?
Okay with you if they post the Ten Commandments on their courthouse lawns?
And say those words once a year that ruin scientists day (Merry Christmas)?
It's okay for scientists to call something "El Niño," but don't you dare say "Merry Christmas," or scientists will complain.
That's an understatement. You really have a thorn in your side with scientists, don't you?
Ya ... they managed to find a place in the back of the bus to dilute It in a class with [other] religions in it.Warden_of_the_Storm said:The Bible IS taught in schools, in religious education classes because it is a religious textbook.
Care to address my point about It teaching "love your enemy"?Warden_of_the_Storm said:However, you can't use it for science since it is not a book about science.
I'm second to none here in saying that the Bible should not be taught in science class.Warden_of_the_Storm said:Here's an example: I would use the Spiderman comics in an art class to teach about art styles but I wouldn't use it in a biology class since it is not a biology text.
But as long as Satan now runs our schools, scientists have found a class for It, where It will be relagated to myth status.
That's because it falls under the definition of a religious text-book.Ya.. they managed to find a place in the back of the bus to dilute It in a class with [other] religions in it.
You'll find that many Religious Education classes also function as classes on morality too.Care to address my point about It teaching "love your enemy"?
Eh... I agree with you on that in a 50/50 manner. It does have it's uses as a historical text, but not in the manner you probably think it does.I'm second to none here in saying that the Bible should not be taught in science class.
Instead, It should be taught in history class.
'Relegated' (slight grammar Nazi, I will freely admit that), but no. Just because you claim that Satan runs your schools (remember: I'm British, not American) doesn't mean it is so.But as long as Satan now runs our schools, scientists have found a class for It, where It will be relegated to myth status.
I'm checking with you. You'd have to check with the countries.
I'll pass. How is Satan running our schools and by what means do you determine this?
I'm checking with you.
How would you feel if you saw the Ten Commandments on a courthouse lawn?
Don't you think that it's ... ironic ... that some people who rail against our goverment will suddenly become flag-waving patriots when someone posts the Ten Commandments on the courthouse lawn?
Sure ... run to Canada when your number comes up -- (they deserve you).
But then don't come back here and "patriotically" tell me about some [phantom] separation of church and state clause in the Constitution.
In fact, don't tell me about the Constitution at all.
I'll pass.
HowThe First Amendment of the US Constitution clearly states: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
Do you know what this means, in the simplest terms?
It means that the US Government must do one of two things:
This is to show that they are not living in a society that is governed a religious group but is one that is governed by the people. Pure and simple.
- If one religious text/icon is put in governmental building or in the area of a government building, they must allow other religious texts/icons on or in the building as well or,
- They will not allow ANY religious texts/icons on or in a government building.
Savy?
Not half as much as you are.So basically you're just blustering and posturing, correct?
