  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolution is just a theory!

Your emotional and psychological objections to reality are irrelevant.
Correct, as the Bible says: "Let God be true and every man a liar". Rom 3:4

Job 40:8
"Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?

Sounds like wishful thinking.
You say that the God that created this universe is "wishful thinking". IF God were to ask you this question, as He asked Job, then how would you answer Him? ""Would you discredit my justice? Would you condemn me to justify yourself?" If Job could be asked over 3,000 years ago, then how would you answer the question today?

You say that the God that created this universe is "wishful thinking".

Claiming there is evidence to support this, yes, it is wishful thinking.

To say one believes it on faith alone, that is something that I don't question.

Humanity progressed beyond 'survival of the fittest' long long ago. Life is much more than the Darwinist worldview of 'survival of the fittest'.

I meant it as a metaphor for survival of the strongest, smartest, best looking, best connected, in today's society.

Where did anyone say that the ToE explained all of reality?

The ToE is the basis of all biological science, and the foundation of modern education, so say many scientists and educators. Personally I believe the bible to be the foundation of our knowledge of reality.

You are not understanding what I am saying. So I will try to explain it to you again. There is lots and lots and lots in the Bible that we can prove beyond any doubt to be true. There is also a lot that we can not prove to be true. This is NO different then Science. There is a lot in Science we can prove to be true, there is also a lot we can not prove. So the Bible and Science are pretty much on even ground in this concern. In you do not want to believe what there is no evidence for, that if fine. I just do not understand why you reject what we do have overwhelming evidence for. Just to begin with people deny the placebo effect. This by far and away is the most tested thing in all of science. Many hundreds of thousands of tests have been done showing that placebos are beneficial and to some degree effective. This along with positive thinking and the power of suggestion have all been proven.

Science is science. Apply science to the Bible to see what science can verify. Of course Science falls far short in many many areas. That is why we have NEED of Religion, because Science CAN NOT get the job done. If Science had solutions and answers I never would have a need for Religion. I was raised with Science and over time I learned Science far to often falls short of the really important solutions that we need. Science can be used to verify what is and what is not true. The problem is that people want to pick and choose what they want to believe. Their problem is NOT with the God of the Bible, their problem is they reject the Science that verifies what we are able to show is true in the Bible. People need their eyes to be opened, they need wisdom, knowledge and understanding to grasp the meaning of the message that the Bible has for our generation today. Of course the Bible was written for the very first generation to learn from the Bible. Still the Bible has a fresh new meaning for those of us today that want to understand it's message for us in our day and age.

In literature, an archetype is a typical character, an action or a situation that seems to represent such universal patterns of human nature. People belittle archetypes because they have not learned how to understand them and how to apply them to their lives today. For example my grandmother use to repeatedly tell us the story of the little boy that cried wolf. There was no reason to argue with her if there really was a wolf or a little boy. The important thing is to learn from the story. If you want people to be there for you when you need them then you can not abuse the privileged. I received more of a classic education. Now people receive to much of a scientific education so that they do not understand how archetypes apply to their lives.

The Holy Spirit of God will guide us and lead us in our understanding of the Bible. So we do not need people to teach us. They can only share with us what they have learned from God. We should learn from God ourselves.

Ecclesiastes 9:11(NKJV)
11 I returned and saw under the sun that—

The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.

Great question. I'd like an answer for that one.
I've asked that question of several of the anti-evilution types. This time it was directed to insitu.

I've received answers from a few that said they believe in genesis literally. I applaud those responses. I don't agree with them, but their honesty is refreshing.

From the others, either there is no response, as is the case with insitu, or they tap dance around it without ever admitting they also believe it is as written in genesis. It appears they are somehow embarrassed by their own beliefs.

ETA: Case in point is the comment made by justlookinla in post #61:
Depends on one's faith-based view.

An innocent look really. If you break down life to its lowest life form, all molecules have to be programmed to do a job. Without information or a programmer, the molecule just sits. It has no direction. Something programmed life to a point.
In the same way that god individually creates each and every snowflake.

And that folks, stands for anyone. Don't pretend you have evidence, based on the scientific method, for how humans exist on earth today.
