Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Meanwhile, everyone who is more interested in reality than their own religious comfort blanket has no trouble at all.
I too am interested in reality; especially when I order a pizza and want it delivered on time.

{ red herring }
Uh-huh.

Then don't tell me life can't exist apart from abiogenesis/evolution and expect me to believe you.

I'm not prepared to jettison God as life, and angels as existing, just to believe we came from cyanobacteria.

Yes, I saw in Wikipedia that macroevolution -- by definition -- is now considered an observation in laboratories; but again, it doesn't mean you can retcon it back to Genesis 1.

So even if you ever did convince me that macroevolution is true, I'll never believe we came from anywhere but the dust of the earth, as God stipulated in Writing.

That's nice.

You are misquoting me.
You are misquoting me more & not answering my questions about how macro-science is observed or about how or where life began exactly. WHen I ask questions people make fun of me & tell me that they are too busy to answer my questions because they are better & smarter than me.

In micro-evolution although there are distinct changes that occur, if you start with a cat you still have a cat at the end, start with an elephant you have an elephant at the end etc.. In macro-evolution you start with a cat and end up with something that is not a cat but this cannot be demonstrated and remains an article of FAITH that is is true.

Ah, I see the problem is your laymans understanding of how ancestry and descent works.

At some point in the past - as demonstrated by fossils and genetics, there was an Ur-Feliformia.
Carnivora
(note all the citations)
That species gave rise to various other cat-like beings including Felidae or true cats.
Felidae
The Ur-cat gave rise to two lineages Felinae and Panthera.

Whatever cats evolve into in the future, they will always remain Felinae, Felidae, Carnivora, Mammals, Vertebrates, etc.

one can demonstrate the evolution of computers or cars in much the same way...

No, one cannot. They fail as an analogue because computers and cars don't reproduce, nor can one develop phylogenetic relationships showing descent.

No, I'm not misquoting you. As for your questions, nobody is obligated to answer your questions. You are, however, obligated to follow the rules and quote accurately. But if you prefer the moderators get involved, that's your choice.

Nemo the Fish needs to adapt to the land & grow some legs. Nemo tries all of his life. When he has a kid, his kid is just like him, father like son. His son wants to adapt too but isn't any closer to growing legs like the Little Mermaid did. He has a kid who wants to adapt too but fails at breathing air. Billions of years later, after making no progress with each passing generation of the Nemo family, their descendants figure it out & they start crawling out of the water.

Emulating Fred M. Williams is not a good way to be taken seriously.

If you're insterested in discussing Fish -> terrestrial tetrapod transitions, we can do so. I'd also note that it's not just fish that transitioned to land. Other beings that only lived in the sea did as well. Plants, insects and even mollusks (snails and slugs) have done so as well.

Here's some sources for fish/terrestrial tetrapods.
Sarcopterygii
Terrestrial Vertebrates
Tiktaalik roseae: Meet Tiktaalik
Evolution: Library: Fish with Fingers
Evolution: The fish-to-tetrapod transition : Nature

And here's an entire course in .pdf form discussing fish->tetrapod evolution.

Don't flatter yourself.

We're also convinced that a lot of what you guys say isn't true.

Oh, don't get me wrong; you might make it work on paper, or be able to program a computer to force it to work in theory; but then to say it trumps Scripture is going too far.

As your interest in reality doesn't seem to extend beyond shoving pizza in your face I don't think your insistence that "reality can take a hike" matters much.

Fair enough -- I can enjoy an anchovy pizza without having to know who the anchovies' ancestors were.

Plants walked out of the ocean like they walked in Lord of the Rings.

Oh, so you're not interested in having a serious conversation.

Good to know so I don't waste any more time one you.

Don't eat that pizza because you don't know where it's been.
Don't worry -- if it came from a laboratory, I definitely won't.

It's probably been chewed on by lab rats -- (or worse).
