  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Evolution False? Absolute proof inside.

I know what you mean. Everything is right in our own eyes until we are shown to be incorrect. That is what happened to me when I believed in evolution.

How were you shown to be incorrect about evolution?

I read the Bible

That... no. I mean, without bias there is no reason for the bible to disprove evolution to you, for that to happen you would have to assume everything in it was literally true before you even opened it.

Which is used in only two of three tellings of the parables (for if you count the non-canon Gospel of Thomas. Why not all three? In Mark, the mustard seed grows to be greater than all herbs. It isn't described as a tree at all.

The message, the word picture, stays the same. And I suggest you check out the Greek word used in the passage in Mark for "herb".

If Jesus becomes real everything about Him is as real . That is just the way it is

I might remind everybody that they may have the opportunity of telling God where He went wrong. The down side might be that He will remind you of where you went wrong as well.
ZING!

AMEN to that!

Not really as Matthew and Luke state that birds nest in its branches but Mark states the birds nest under its shadow.

You know what? You are completely correct, I feel ridiculous now. Yet another argument I will never use again. My sources were not good, I jumped the gun, sorry about that.

I am again impressed with your ability to admit when wrong. I admire that.

It happens. I will not keep pressing an argument I have been shown to be inaccurate. This will be either the 3rd or 4th time I have removed an argument completely from my personal use since being on this site. Progress has been made to improving my debates.

Yes, it provided multiple benefits. The lesson is that something very very small and seemingly insignificant can produce something useful to others.

lachanon any pot herb, vegetables

What's your point?

λάχανον
lachanon
lakh'-an-on
From λαχαίνω lachainō (to dig); a vegetable: - herb.

The point is, there's no one to one translation from Koine Greek to english many times. Sometimes, concepts are translated.

You do understand don't you that the Gospels were written well after the event and although inspired can also contain the limited understanding of the writer. You see this when two writers re-count the same event slightly differently. Was God out to deceive? - hardly

So the Gospels are hindered by the "limited understanding of the writer", you say. And yet you also consider the Bible to be the inerrant word of God. How can the same text contain errors due to the limited understanding of its authors and also be the perfect word of God?

Indeed. It's similar to the point I brought up which caused him to put me on ignore.

An inerrant source is meaningless if the transmission of the source is fallible.

Only some of the Horus story is the same as the Jesus story. There are differences too. Sometimes people misunderstand. Worse yet there is more than one version of the Horus story. They did not have the equivalent of a Nicene council where various Gospels were thrown out.

Doesn't make a lot of sense, does it?
