  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If we were going to fight each other we wouldn't let foreign distractions deter us. Except for a few incidents of violence involving race, and criminal activity, we get along pretty well, even considering our ethnic diversity. Cast against the rest of the world we're pretty peaceful.

You're joking, right? .....right?

You're painting a pretty grim picture of America.

Numbers don't lie.

Many more benefit from our systems than are harmed by it.

And still, it puts you at the bottom of plenty of societal health indexes as compared to other western nations.

One thing that weakens us is our desire to treat everyone 'fairly'.

You must be joking............

In other words we try to save people that shouldn't be saved.

How, exactly?

The truth that creationism follows a mathematical precision that evolutionary theory does not follow at all. My sons are both engineers and they are a LOT better at math then I am. I always trust NASA because IF they make a mistake people die. Kabbalah studies the precision of the Hebrew Language. They say that area of study is about to go through a shake up or a time of testing because so much teaching has crept in that is not accurate. Even DNA (the Language of God) still needs a lot of study and research to understand. Even if we do not understand ancient Hebrew or DNA the mathematical precision is still there. Very few people understand the logic behind math and how that logic can be expressed. You get into that very small group of people that I do not claim to be a part of. Although my son tells me that he learned that in the fifth grade. Which would substantiate the claim that so many people like to make that we do not have the understanding of a fifth grader. In fact Jesus teaches that you have to have the understanding of a Child to understand the things of God and to many people lose that along with their innocence and purity.

But in another thread you just typed a post extolling the virtues of Francis Collins views on evolution. You are a walking contradiction my friend, it makes any discussion with you quite difficult.
Contradiction, contradiction and more contradiction. That is his MO.

You are adding NOTHING to the discussion. What do you have to contribute?

Your claim that just because you gained weight after loosing weight on a shoddy diet does not invalidate evolution. That just shows that you yourself are incapable of sticking to a diet plan.
If you had actually bothered to learn about evolution, you would know that.

I can argue either side of the evolution issue, pro or con. It really does not matter to me. ONLY the vast majority of the people here are pro evolution so it just makes sense to show them how wrong they are and how ill advised their approach to the whole issue is. What makes the whole theory of evolution work is that people chisel away at anything they consider to be a flaw and that strengthens the theory. This is what the peer review process is all about.

If your going to ask the question what version of Creationism should be taught IN the public school system then the obvious answer is going to be Francis Collins version of evolutionary theory which is theistic evolution. That does not make him 100 % right. Collins is well aware that new information is coming along every day that helps us to better understand creationism and evolutionary theory. We have to do the best we can with the limited amount of information that we have to work with and keep trying to learn more.

Why should I waste my time learning about a stupid defunct theory like evolution? I mean I understand that is the best science can do, but you would think with the money they burn up on research they could produce more information for all the money they waste.

Apples and oranges.

You must be joking............

Note the semi-quotes around 'fairly'.

How, exactly?

For one we are trying to 'save' criminals that should be put to death; tens of thousands of them. Why reward such with a life of leisure at public expense.

Stop pretending that you know more about evolution than anyone else! You have NEVER ONCE shown a single inkling that you even know the slightest bit about evolution. So stop childishly pretending that you do.

I'll take it all back if you show me one post that you wrote that shows you have a good understanding of evolution. How about that?

@joshua 1 9, I'm still waiting for you to show me one post that you wrote that shows that you have a good understanding of evolution.
Not my job, I am here to represent Creationism, not Evolution. BOTH Creationism and Evolution are based on the exact same evidence. Both natural evidence and artifacts. Both Evolution and Creationism are based on common ancestor. Creationism simply does a better job of explaining the evidence then Evolutionists. Because Creationism takes into consideration that ALL of Creation is in a fallen condition and in need of redemption. Evolution does not take all of this into consideration. Note: I consider Theistic Evolution to be Creationism. Francis Collins is both a Creationist and an Evolutionist.

According to Francis Collins:

"I believe that God had a plan to create creatures with whom he could have fellowship, in whom he could inspire [the] moral law, in whom he could infuse the soul, and who he would give free will as a gift for us to make decisions about our own behavior, a gift which we oftentimes utilize to do the wrong thing.

I believe God used the mechanism of evolution to achieve that goal. And while that may seem to us who are limited by this axis of time as a very long, drawn-out process, it wasn't long and drawn-out to God. And it wasn't random to God.

[He] had the plan all along of how that would turn out. There was no ambiguity about that."

Only a creationist can understand evolution. It would be impossible for anyone that does not believe in the God of the Bible to understand Evolution.

God gives us the ability to understand. God created a Universe that can be understood. Prov 3:19-20a (NIV) "By wisdom the Lord laid the earth's foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place; by his knowledge the deeps were divided." We can see that wisdom, knowledge & understanding are a intricate part of God's Creation. It is God that gives us the ability to comprehend and understand.

Science and the Bible go hand in hand. There is no contradiction between Science and the Bible. True Science agrees with the Bible and there is no conflict.

Joshua, you said that you know more about evolution that anyone and yet you have never shown a single shred of you demonstrating this brilliant knowledge you claim to possess. In fact, the complete opposite has been shown time and time again on this forum.

Now I have asked you to defend your statement with evidence and you have not done so.

So I ask you again: show me one post that you wrote that shows that you have a good understanding of evolution.

Joshua, you said that you know more about evolution that anyone
I said I know more then the vast majority of people in the world today. That is not saying much at all because the vast majority of people do not know much about the theory of evolution. I have read about it quite a bit. For example I have exp done in depth studies on the Origins of Agriculture. Esp the Origins of Agriculture in the Middle East.

My purpose was not to be some sort of an expert on Evolution. My purpose was to show that there is no conflict between the Bible and Science.

"The most important crops in Mesopotamia were wheat and barley. Farmers also grew dates, grapes, figs, melons, and apples. Favorite vegetables included eggplants, onions, radishes, beans, lettuce, and sesame seeds. Mesopotamians also raised sheep, goats, and cows." http://www.palmbeach.k12.fl.us/eagleslandingms/MesopotamiaAgriculture.pdf

If you go to Jerusalem you will find a few men who have been widely published in Peer Reviewed Science Journals that have extensively studied the History of Agriculture in the Middle East beginning in Ancient Mesopotamia. They will tell you about every plant and every animal we read about in our Bible. They will tell you how that plant or how that animal evolved. They are actually Hebrew, not Christian but still they can substantiate the accuracy and truthfulness of the Bible. This can all be done using science and what is known about the theory of evolution.

Evolutionary theory proves that the Bible is 100% accurate and true. If you understood the theory then you would know this is true.
