If it was determined that God did it, who would have the final say? And, even if we're not smart enough to understand the origin of life, that doesn't mean that some god did it.
The common people or the scientists?
Yup ... just as I figured. Are you saying common people can't be scientists and scientists can't be common people?
Don't forget that the Earth had billions of years and numerous environments to create life, while scientists have only been trying since the 1950's.
Including Pluto? On top of that, the chances of abiogenesis occuring through natural processes is spread across all planets in the unvierse.
Yup ... just as I figured.
You guys want to argue the question.
Made a good point, didn't I?
(Praise the LORD.)
I was referring to people here who are still Christian, and accept the theory of evolution. Also, The theory of evolution had nothing to do with why I no longer consider myself a Christian. That's right.
So let's put this verse in context.
Romans 1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Romans 1:23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
How many right here on CF have ... like you ... professed to be a Christian at one time, but "had questions his pastor couldn't answer"?
(I believe it was a priest, in your case?)
You, of all people, should understand that passage.
You are way too fixated on names. There's more to it than just calling oneself by that moniker.
That just starts the process.
Like I said, not everyone ends up like that ... but they run the risk.
When you find a point you like, you just never let go, do you? Just curious, can you show me the physical changes that happened to Pluto when it was no longer classified as a planet.Including Pluto?
Including Pluto?
Including Pluto?
Contrary to YEC, I prefer regard God's evidence over the written word of man, of which there have been many hands involved.
Though my opinion doesn't amount to a hill of beans on this subject, I think you are doing it right here. Wouldn't the evidence always trump what an ancient tome says, anyway? Some people have elevated the Bible to a god-like status, or even higher. It almost seems like some people here worship the Bible as their god, instead of their god.
Does that surprise you?
Paul warned about that very thing.
Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Calling yourselves Homo sapiens (wise men) can lead to atheism.
Not all the time, but they that do that are putting themselves at risk.
Funny, I've been a TE ever since I was old enough to understand the concept, and never tempted to deconvert.
Everyone in my church (at least, that I know of) is a TE, and they are as observant as any other Christians. I think in the past 15 years I've only heard of one person leaving my church because of a deconversion, and he deconverted to deism.
It's my observation that the more likely path to atheism is for a child to be indoctrinated in creationism and science denial, so when they grow up and actually research these things for themselves, they'll realize they were being lied to about evolution, the scientific method, the age of the earth and the universe, etc. and think "If my parents/teachers/pastor lied to me about all of that, then they must have lied to me about God too!".
The majority of atheists I've talked too were once fundamentalist creationists.
YEC and most other forms of creationism are ultimately harmful to Christianity.
Funny, I've been a TE ever since I was old enough to understand the concept, and never tempted to deconvert.
I love how when people keep thinking evolution will make people atheist, they think purely in terms of their own religion, as if there aren't religions in which evolution itself doesn't clash with literal interpretations so much.
Romans 1:22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,I love how when people keep thinking evolution will make people atheist,
