Since your moniker indicates that you are an atheist, just what are you doing trying to dictate to Christians how they should interpret the Bible? Do you allow creationists to dictate the definitions of "evoluition", "microevolution", "macroevolution", and "natural selection"? NO. Because they define them for their own benefit.

Here the benefit is that a literal interpretation of the Bible is the only interpretation atheists can falsify. Having you insist that a literal interpretation is the only interpretation is no more valid than creationists telling us what evolution is.

Bad data again. Cro-Magnon is 30,000 years ago and is fully anatomically modern.

Your book was written by humans who had little understanding of such sciences and made stuff up that's now so painfully wrong that Christians have to now make up lame and laughable excuses for the errors.

The authors of Genesis 1 set their theological message in the best science of the time -- the Babylonian. However, the theological messages are just as valid in today's science as they were then.

Wow, that's deep.
Fossil evidence is probably the weakest link in the theory of evolution. More compelling evidence can be found in DNA, developmental biology, ecology, biogeography and mathematics (population studies). Not to mention direct observation of speciation.

Fossils do give us a beautiful, if fragmentary, history of life on earth - but do not give much insight into the mechanisms of evolution

I did no such thing. And in any case it is as valid that an atheist give interpretation to a Christian, as a Christian to another Christian.

My bad. I confused the figures in my head (and I used an 'ish' after a billion figure!) No excuses there.
