I approve of the way He said He did it. I do not approve of your strange alternate reality creation beliefs. Both of those are a better fit for Genesis than YE creationism.
He was. The problem is, you don't approve of the way God did it.
I approve of the way He said He did it.
How can you believe in a literal firmanent and still have working GPS?Pretending GPS and computers is related in any way to beliefs science has about creation is delusional.
In a narrative the one telling the story gets to tell the story his way. My basic attitude is so what if it's not scientific, there is no need for an empirical approach that wouldn't be developed for thousands of years after thw writing. Genesis is telling us a history that the secular world either marginalized long ago or rejected entirely. It's not just creation, the fall, the flood, the rise of the nations, Abraham, Issac and Jacob are all part of that divine revelation. We do well to consider the weight of that living testimony before we start comparing it to a methodology that is more relevant to lab work then divine revelation.Yes, from a human viewpoint. Technically, moon is not a light. But technicalities are not the goal of Genesis. And thats my point.
As moon is not a light, so also we are not made of dust. Our kidneys do not think and there is no firm "firmanent" in the sky. Bible is not a science book.
It does not mean that Bible contains "lies", its just a different language, a different way of communicating the message.
Do you believe that the earth is flat or that there is a solid firmanent in the sky? Do you believe that your thinking is taking place in kidneys? In a narrative the one telling the story gets to tell the story his way. Your just playing with semantics here, the old English word 'firmament' is a translation of a Hebrew word that just means, 'the visible arch of the sky'. A flat earth and thinking with your kidneys, which by the way the ancient Hebrews and Greeks thought is was the heart, is irrelevant to the actual message. To the ancients the sky looked like a dome, and they thought of it in that way. It did look kind of flat but ancient Greeks know the world was round, a famous librarian at Alexandria actually calculated the circumference and was only off by a couple of hundred miles. Master mariners generally knew the earth was round, the ancient Hebrews had little interest in such things since they were a land locked nation.Do you believe that the earth is flat or that there is a solid firmanent in the sky? You did not answer my questions and I have no idea why you are talking about Greeks. I thought you stick to literal Genesis/Bible reading.Your just playing with semantics here, the old English word 'firmament' is a translation of a Hebrew word that just means, 'the visible arch of the sky'. I did address those pedantic points and I was speaking directly to a flat earth cosmology, pointing out it's irrelevant to the message of Genesis. You won't get any cosmology or astronomy from the ancient Hebrews, but your the one who brought it up, even though it's completely irrelevant to the message of Genesis. You did not answer my questions and I have no idea why you are talking about Greeks. If you cant get any cosmology or astronomy from the ancient Hebrews, why do you believe you can get any cosmogony, age of the universe or biology from them?I did address those pedantic points and I was speaking directly to a flat earth cosmology, pointing out it's irrelevant to the message of Genesis. What you will get is a point of origin, it informs our understanding of how life developed by affirming in no uncertain terms it was fully formed at creation. The rest is just your preoccupation with the irrelevant. If you cant get any cosmology or astronomy from the ancient Hebrews, why do you believe you can get any cosmogony, age of the universe or biology from them?

The age of the earth is irrelevant to the doctrine of creation. All we know about the age of the earth and the universe is that it was 'in the beginning'. Life was created about 6000 years ago.Are you YEC or not? When I read your posts in other places, you look like one, but your responses to me are so vague...
There are so many fossils of different animals and plants and eras that it does not fit 6000 years span... at all.The age of the earth is irrelevant to the doctrine of creation. The general evidence is anecdotal at beast. Spent a lot of time on fossils , especially the hominids, the rationality is contrived. There are so many fossils of different animals and plants and eras that it does not fit 6000 years span... at all.
There is so much asteroid bombardment traits on the Earth that if it would all happen in the 6000 years span, it would destroy all life hundred times.
There are ice (annual) layers that do not fit 6000 years at all.
6000 years are not consistent with what we see in the world around us. Its definitely older.
If you want to pretend people like Peter and Jesus and Moses did not claim clearly that the world was created and man, well, sorry, can't help with those delusions. No, you would rather believe the man-made doctrine of YE creationism, than take His word as it is.
How can you believe in a literal firmanent and still have working GPS?
Since the firmament is where stars were placed, I think people always knew space was not some metal nonsense.
Old wives tale. Sorry. Intelligent men knew that the moon and sun were not sitting fixed in anything solid. You see they moved. The part of the heavens where birds fly obviously was not the part where stars and the sun were.Actually, firmanent is both where stars are and where birds are flying. They did not know that stars are huge objects far far away. Firmanent is also what keeps rain waters from falling down.
They should have believed God and His word instead.Ancient Jews believed that there is a firm metal nonsense in the sky, holding water and stars above and in the holes in it water rains down.
As you can see, their knowledge of the world was quite confusing. And they wrote Genesis.Old wives tale. Sorry. Intelligent men knew that the moon and sun were not sitting fixed in anything solid. You see they moved. The part of the heavens where birds fly obviously was not the part where stars and the sun were.
