"Good and evil stand opposed,
The battle ground is the heart,
The reward is the mind."
                                 A_Weak_Nobody

Do you desire riches and honor? Then possess godly wisdom.

Proverbs 8:18
Riches and honor are with me [Wisdom]...

To begin possessing wisdom, one must fear the Lord.

Proverbs 9:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom...

"Fear of the Lord" means:

Proverbs 8:13
...to hate evil;

So, to obtain riches and honor, one must possess wisdom. In order to possess wisdom, one must fear the Lord. To have fear of the Lord means you hate all evil.

But, what is evil? Take a moment, and think about this question. You will be surprised at its true definition.

The following are some of the evils in the sight of the Lord:

1. Forgeting, forsaking, betraying the Lord
2. Boasting in one's arrogance
3. Pervert God's way
4. Seeking signs
5. Not listening to God
6. Not obeying, not serving God
7. Practicing soothsaying
8. Using witchcraft
9. Consulting spiritists and mediums
10. Creating, serving, bowing, worshipping, turning to, trusting other gods
11. Despising, not obeying God's Word
12. Leading others away from God
13. Rebellion against God and even speaking about doing it
14. Turning one's back on God
15. Not being humble before God's prophets
16.Cursing God and man
17. Not preparing one's heart to seek the Lord
18. Setting abominations in the house which is called by God's name, to polute it

To see this is true, visit GospelCom.Com or any good online Bible site. Use "search by keyword: evil" and "see passages in: NKJV". There is about 500 passages with the word "evil" mentioned.

Thus, if you search the Bible, you will notice evil is not lying, wickedness, murdering, etc. In the Lord's eyes, evil is classffied seperately, and has its own spirits, consquences, and deeds. For example, take wickedness. You can be wicked, and still not fear the Lord.

1 Samuel 12:20
Then Samuel said to the people, "Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart.

In fact, evil is mighter than wickedness.

Psalm 34:21
Evil shall slay the wicked...

So, based on the examples mentioned above, "evil" is to do everything opposite of God's first three of ten commandments.

Exodus 20:3-7
You shall have no other gods before Me.

God of the Bible is the one and only (living) God. He alone is to be worshiped, obeyed, and adored. To do anything else, is evil.

You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.

You are not to make anything that would detract from the exclusive worship of the Lord.

You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain...

"God's name in vain" means:

1. To trivialize His name by regarding it as insignificant;
2. Trying to use it to advance evil purposes by coaxing God to violate His character and     purposes; and
3. To use it in worship thoughtlessly.

Hence, "evil people" are decribed as:

Jeremiah 13:10
...[those] who refuse to hear My words, who follow the dictates of their hearts, and walk after other gods to serve them and worship them,...

James 3:14-16
[So] if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there.

Therefore, guard your heart with God's help. Let Him protect your mind.
