is he saying that you need evil to be able to know what good is? and therefore satan is/has doing/done us a favour? hmmm. i could agree that maybe having lean times gives you an appreciatation of the times of plenty. but you dont need to be kicked when youve fallen to apreaciate a hand to help you back to your feet. tbh it reads like your pal was drunk (you get these (well i do anyway) big ideas that feel like massive descoveries of the universe when your on substances), or maybe he was pulling your leg, but i believe hes most certainly been decieved somewhere along the line. i dont know scripture that will prove him wrong, maybe its a mute point as its interpretation of ideas but this line of thought feels to me as the kind of reasoning that maybe judas could have used/been party to, to do what he did. do you jknow what i mean?

I don't believe we need evil in order to have good. Genesis 1: 3And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good..." So, before evil existed, God saw that something was good. Good, therefore, existed without the presence of evil. That is my rational, easy to understand, explanation. I hope it helps. God bless

It is a message that be repeated very very often, and that is that you should be good and follow the and follow the laws that God gave Moses. To be good you should follow most of them. So I don't believe what you're friend said. Satan i symbol of evil, and evil is what whe have to defeat, thats what the bible tells us.

That has been mistaken to, all these years people have try'ed to defeat evil with evil and thats wrong in my view. The bible tells us to be good, and we have to use goodness to defeat evil, not evil VS evil, than we just create more evil. When we use that we continue with using it and thats wrong.

So I don't believe him:)
Stay true to yourself and God and you will get help;)

Actually Paul says it best:

In Romans: When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Yes, people sinned even before the law was given. And though there was no law to break, since it had not been given, they all died anyway- even though they did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did....

God's law was given so that all people could see how sinful they were... (Romans 5:12-21)

So the good law, which was supposed to show me the way of life, instead gave me the death penalty. Sin took advantage of the law and fooled me; it took the good law and used it to make me guilty of death. But still, the law itself is holy and right and good. Romans 7:10-12

It also speaks in Romans chapter 3 about:

But some say, our sins serve a good purpose, for people will see God's goodness when he declares us sinners to be innocent. Isnt it unfair, then, for God to punish us? (That is actually the way some people talk.) Of course not! If God is not just, how is he qualified to judge the world? But, some might still argue, how can God judge and condemn me as a sinner if my dishonesty highlights his truthfulness and brings him more glory? If you follow that kind of thinking, however, you might as well say that the more we sin the better it is! Those who say such things deserve to be condemned, yet some slander me by saying this is what I preach!....

Obviously, the law applies to those whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses and to bring the entire world into judgment before God.... Romans 3:5-8; 19

So in my opinion, it isnt evil that reveals what is right and just, it is God's law. And it is God's law that shows us we are sinners.

(Keep reading in Romans and you will see Paul speak on Jesus, because we can never fulfill the law, it took Jesus to do this for us).

God Bless
