Evidence of God in the world?

As an Atheist one of the main reasons I cannot believe in God is the total absence of any evidence that he has any current involvement in the world.

I see appalling wars in various parts of the world, with prayers in every church for peace, which never comes. Oppression of Christians in various parts of the world, predominantly the Middle East, prayers unanswered, famine in Yemen, prayers unanswered.

On a UK radio station I heard that UK Christians had a day of prayer to reduce the increasing amount of gun and knife crime - fat lot of good that did.

OK so occasionally someone who is ill recovers after prayer, but atheists, Muslims, Jews and Buddhists all sometimes make seemingly miraculous recoveries from illness.

Natural disasters kill thousands, climate change is leading to extinctions of species, the insect population world wide has fallen by 70% in 30 years -prayers unanswered.

So my question is - what evidence of a "living God" do Christians see, is any evidence needed and why is the God at work (if there is one) the Christian God and not the Muslim or soem other God?

The top three answers I get are:

"Look at the trees"

"Prophecy"

"The cowardly disciples radically changed into bold martyrs"

Are you still there or were you totally blown away?

I'd be interested to know what God did for you, or perhaps what happened to you that you interpret as God doing something.

HI dAVE

Would you like to attempt solve the puzzle I have posed? Prove this is not a dream

ok - Let's play a little game

I'm going to pose a little puzzle - the solution to this puzzle is exactly what God did for me. After that revelation - Without a doubt I knew God existed and I had truly had an Encounter with God and not some hyped up emotion, feeling or conjecture of my own mind. It also validated who God is and that the bible we believe in is also valid and correct.

I'll tell you the story after playing with this puzzle just to give you an idea of what happened to me and why that Encounter with God was needed.

Here's my puzzle

Prove this isn't a dream. At the moment I think this Forum is a dream and this thread is a dream. This question is a dream and everything I am typing is all a figment of my imagination. I can feel the keyboard, I can hear it's sound but again this all could be my imagination.

As with all dreams - IT SEEMS VERY REAL. Anything could happen - If it's a good dream then a lovely young lady might appear and the dream might just shift to me walking through fields of barley holding hands with her walking bare foot . If I'm lucky she might give me one of those smiles ;)

Now, if I've had some strong cheese, then this dream just might warp into something more sinister. The Avatar for John Cleese might stand up and would be wearing leather undies and a suspender belt. Then Start doing a silly Monty Python Walk. The OP might produce a voodoo doll with my face on it. He would pose a problem question that would keep me trapped in this thread forever. Then again , the Dream just might Go on and On with us debating and debating and debating.

Prove this isn't a dream.

Of course I can’t prove this isn’t a dream, if it is, it’s a very good one.

Trying to win the argument by reverting to solipsism.
It’s a favorite move of theirs to play skeptic’s advocate and equivocate their theism with our pragmatic empiricism when we admit we can’t soundly disprove solipsism.

What on earth is solipsism?

I had to look that up in a Dictionary - ta for the pointer
Who said I'm trying to win an argument?

A favourite move of the enemy is to use other people to cast Doubt.

You guess my motives completely wrong.

Well we are going off topic - that would be a distraction technique - another favourite tactic of the Devil
I posed a question and I have had very little in the way of response. At this rate I'm actually going to come to the conclusion I'm in a Coma.

Prove I'm not in a Coma :)

Well - I've woke up many times lashing out into the air. In those dreams I must have been in a fight so I conclude they can be very real.

In fact start thinking of creepy crawlies during watching a scary Movie or sit next to someone who has fleas and you can sometimes feel the flea moving in your hair. An Illusion of the mind can be very real.

But it does seem very real - right now my toes are probably twitching in bed trying to find a suitable answer to that question you posed. My wife is now thinking she is in for another sleepless night. He's having one of those dreams again.

It was sarcasm aimed at the the previous poster ( and yourself ) of me using underhanded methods.
Can you be sarcastic in a dream

I never guessed at your motives, only your strategy. It looks like I was wrong about that, too, as your argument turned out to be far less sophisticated. Just come right out and call people the Devil. I hope you don’t consider other people here enemies. I sure don’t.

Correction - I have not produced my argument yet. We are playing a game of solving a puzzle. Your strategy seems to be to hinder this. I'm merely pointing out your behavior. Do you want to solve the puzzle or not?

This dream is taking a turn for the worse. It seems someone looking like the Borg has turned Up. I should have stayed off the cheese.:)

It's got to be a dream - the Borg are fictional right?

I already answered your dream question. I can’t prove you’re not dreaming. Now what? Proceed with your argument.
