Surprising. I have been very skeptical of Soviet science but this appears to be way more than post-Soviet science and has me thinking it might be more on target than not.

And then there are the religious benefits of fasting.

The late Paul C. Bragg, author of "The Miracle of Fasting" (called by some "The Bible of Health), was also aware of this Russian research decades ago and mentioned it in his book. Bragg's book is still the most inspirational work on fasting available. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to explore fasting.
