I Feel like everything I do will send me to hell.
Im dead Serious.
I dont know what to do and its really taking a tole on my life, here are some examples:
Lets watch TV: NO Don't watch TV that doesn't Glorify God, You're Sitting And Being Lazy, Laziness is A SIN.
Lets Put on Makeup: NO Don't do that, Why would you want to alter what God made, Are You Ashamed Of What God made? Thats a SIN.
Lets Pet My Cat: HOW Is sitting down Petting your cat Glorifying God.
I Need To Take My Anxiety Medicine: STOP, That is brain altering and evil, be sober minded, you sinner.

THIS IS MY LIFE ON A DAILY BASIS. I want to cry and am very depressed, No one in my house is a Christian and i have no accountability.
I fear of going to hell so much, Im going to bed freezing tonight because I don't have any pajamas but Pj Pants, so I'm just wearing an oversized shirt Because Ive been told pants are a Sin.
I seriously am starting to feel like I want my life to end, but thats A sin too..
I Took off my cross necklace, because I heard Its a sin to wear that, And ive worn Cross necklaces for 4 years now, I just feel upset, empty and SO AWAY From God... I cant even fathom it.

Concentrate on Gods promises. Take up the sword of the Spirit and fight this fear. This is one of my favourite verses:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Tim 1:7

Take captive and rebuke every thought pattern that is contrary to that. You have been given a sound mind. We have the mind of Jesus Christ and faith in His accomplished work on the cross.. you wont be going to hell!

Unload that condemnation*. Leave it at the foot of the cross. God loves you. Sometimes we don't feel that love but its there. If you feel his nudging or conviction about idleness or whatever attend to it. Try doing each job as if serving God.

If you need someone to be accountable to I'm on here most days. Pm me you like. :)

Be filled with the 'peace that passes understanding'. God bless you <3

* Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus Romans 8.1

I understand how you feel, sometimes it can be overwhelming. There are so many different views and opinions about what is right and what is wrong. Really the only thing you need to do is read and understand the bible, both the OT and the NT so you'll learn the truth. Pray for understanding and ask God to guide you before you start to read. Do this everyday and you won't feel far away from him anymore. May God bless you..

Ah, I remember this. I was there once too.

I would honestly say not to get too caught up in the "is this a sin?! Is this a sin?" game. It's the wrong type of religion. We're trying to have a relationship with a person (just like a relationship with a beloved family member, significant other, or friend) - not a relationship with a list of rules. That would not imply any love, and it's actually what the Pharisees did when they followed all the rules blamelessly (Philippians 3:4-9)

I've met this girl before. Her name is Gracie.

First, your definition of a sin needs to come from God. Other people might have good ideas, but what they call sin doesn't really matter. You need to find out what is right and wrong based on the Bible and the Holy Spirit, not what so-and-so thinks.

By the way, I don't have all of the above sin-worries worked out, but I can give you these two:
Petting a cat is glorifying God by enjoying His creation
Wearing pants is certainly better than wearing nothing.

The other thing to remember is that you probably do something every minute that you deserve to be sent to Hell for. So do I, and that is normal. That is why we need Jesus, because He atones for all those sins. And He takes you back. What I have learned over the last 18 months is that no matter how many times I sin and anger God, He forgives me and takes me back every time I repent.

And God doesn't want us to live in fear of sinning. My favorite Bible verses are in 1 Thessalonians 5: "16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." When I first heard those, I had trouble making that fit with the rules about how Christians are supposed to live. But I eventually realized that God wants us to calm down, rejoice peacefully, and be glad that He loves us! Christ wants us to be close to Him because of faith, not bring ourselves to Him by works.

AlyssaJulianna, I have one more piece of advice for you. No more chocolate and coffee-grounds sandwiches. (Well, that is what everyone says to me when I'm strung out!)

God bless you
Grace

[You'll observe I'm not a young adult. I hope you don't mind a response from someone older. My impression is that young adults isn't closed in the same way that teens is.]

This idea that every ordinary activity is a sin is what most of us call "legalism." What mattered for Jesus is loving God and how we treat people. The people he threatened with the outer darkness were people who didn't care about anyone else, and never did anything to make a difference for someone else. Not people who watched TV or petted their cat.

As to glorifying God: Jesus never demanded that people be super-Christian, i.e. spend every waking moment just doing godly things. He said anyone who gives a cup of water to someone will get their reward. And if you remember the parable of the sheep and the goats, the sheep didn't even realize they were following him. Living a moral life, helping others when you can, thinking with God about what you're doing with your life, all these things are good. But you can't worry about whether watching TV or petting your cat are godly activities. I admit that if all you do is watch TV, you need to look at your priorities. And I'd hate to see you turn into one of those cat women who has 53 cats in her home. But I doubt that's the problem for you.

There's no reason anyone who is a follower of Jesus should worry about hell. Trust his promises. He died for you.

Are you hearing these things from your church? People on the Internet? The internet is full of all kinds of weird people. CF sees lots of people who are panicked because some preacher somewhere said something. I'd suggest that you find a responsible church, i.e. one that teaches that God loves us and isn't sitting there in heaven making lists of things we do. Then be careful about what web sites you read. If it's your church that's doing that to you, I urge you to find another church.

Telling you to stop taking medicine is particularly worrisome. If any church is doing that, that's a *really* bad sign.

I see you attend an online church. That worries me, because it makes getting support harder. With the kind of situation you describe, I'd really recommend finding an experienced, sane Christian to talk with you. Talking in person is a lot better for this than anything electronic. Typically you'd talk with your pastor. I'd suggest identifying a local church that understands God's grace and talking with a pastor. People on CF can help you, but someone who is near the end of their tether needs in-person help from someone with experience.

I think part of this might be your anxiety talking. I used to feel like that and still sometimes do. I have this obsession of seeking ways to think negatively about myself in every way and I'll even look for stuff on the internet where Christians might talk about how doing horrible stuff to yourself is a good thing. However, I'm fortunate to have the healthy part as well which knows that this is not what Christianity is about.

Please don't forget that some things might be a sin for certain people and not for others. Make-up is a good example. A woman who has been focusing on her looks only, putting layers and layers of make-up on everyday and spending tons of money on it, might seriously need to consider not using make-up because it takes her focus away from God while another woman might just use a little to conver a few things up, spending little money on it and just spending five minutes putting it on in the morning. The problem is that the woman who has been overusing make-up might now think that everyone who wears make-up needs to come to the same conclusion that they should not wear it and then she might start telling other women to stop wearing make-up.

Pray and read the Bible and ask God to point out where you really have issues that you need to work on. I#m doing that as well, it isn't easy.

Don't you think God is loving, understanding, and considerate? Maybe you should concentrate more on being a decent person, rather than following human rules, such as make-up and medicine being wrong. Does wearing pants harm other people? If not, you're going to be ok. ;)

Yeah, taking religion seriously can be quite stressful. Maybe you should consider reforming your religious beliefs. Do a bit of studying, drop the senseless parts, and keep the ones you find useful and good. Constantly thinking you are going to hell sucks, I know because I've been there.
