Every god is true but one, should the other gods do something about it?

Define "true god" and "false god" in this context, beyond "gods who can back up their god status." Too vague.

Well, by the Christian definition, gods are those who can back up what they believe with words.

That sounds fairly simple to me.

Elijah did this, didn't he? They had that little contest about which god could rain fire from the sky.

Ugh.

Sometimes I honestly grow tired of circular reasoning getting a pass, and the generic "Christian definition" label being tossed onto things that are the product of the individual.

Don't you ever get tired of it ? Honestly ? Honestly ? Don't you ever get tired of millions of Christians claiming "Christian definitions" when the goalposts move constantly ? If you walked into a drug store to find a certain medication (let's say, OTC ibuprofen) ... but every pill in there was labeled "ibuprofen", but they all clearly looked different and had different uses/indications/etc ascribed to them, it would be a bit perplexing yes ? So then you go up to the pharmacist and say, "Which of these is ibuprofen ? I just need ibuprofen but they all seem to be different, even though they say the same thing," and the pharmacist tells you which bottle is the right one, even indicating there are counterfeits and placebos in the store. You pick up the bottle, go to check out ... and the check out person tells you THAT one is the counterfeit, and that what you really want is this other bottle over here. You now have reason to suspect anyone in that store who may claim something about one of those bottles. Wouldn't you just leave that store and go somewhere that could actually identify ibuprofen ? Or perhaps even just move on to some other drug which may not have as much confusion associated with it ?

Don't you ever grow tired of, "The Christian answer is ________. It's simple." ?

And also ... back up "with words" ? As in, "Because I say so, it's true ..." That's how you delineate a "true god" from a false one ? The one who can back it up with ... words ?

That's when you wouldn't take their word for it, but instead do your own research and discover for yourself which is the right one.

I think the problem you are experiencing is a lack of personal relationship with the definitions you are using.

Do you think if you went to a speed dating night and every girl you met, as soon as they told you their name, you said "oh, you are girl though, that must mean you are Michelle" you would get somewhere? Honestly?

Well, same thing.

As for you having a problem with words - of all things - I don't suppose you have a rational reason, do you? I'm not saying "any words", as you glibly suggest (quite foolishly).

Exactly my answer, but I think you said it better.

Perhaps he will see the point better, for the two of us?

Yes, but the problem is what do the other gods do about it?

not how do you tell? only?

The same thing Baal did when challenged by Elijah. Baal did what all false gods do. Nothing.
