  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

ooc: I apologize for the terrible post, I am not feeling well today and my computor won't let me make spaces in my post. ICThe ship had travelled through the night, because of the tide and the current running off shore they had almost reached the end of the provinces. Soon they would be in Iraseil, there they would join with traders as they travelled north hopefully this barbarian would still be there. But he doubted it. Atlas sighed, as he looked out to sea; this was not the goal he had fought for. Perhaps it was still in sight?

"It will be simple to find them, Sierra. All we have to do is head to the House of Lords and spread word that we are messengers of Atlas looking for Cador Solomon. We will quickly find them," Zhash spoke with more confidence than he felt. He wondered if it really would be that simple. It couldn't do any harm, though.

Without waiting, Zhash headed out the door, and, holding it open for Sierra to follow, announced, "Besides, we will have to make our appearance in the House of Lords at some time or another."

Getting into the House of Lords was not as easy as Zhash had hoped. They were able to get to the public viewing area well enough, but the actual floor was at first unattainable. It was not until Zhash convinced one of the guards that he was actually a messenger for Atlas were he and Sierra able to get through.

Entering the floor was like entering another world. Suddenly, Zhash was surrounded by many tall, white haired men who held their noses higher than their foreheads. Turning frantically to Sierra, Zhash asked, "Who do you think we should talk to first?"

The room was naturally tense, the political atmosphere was that of a war zone, the typical position of political master was led by a historically great leader.
Cador Solomon.
His recent death had completely shocked the populous though it had done very little than give cause for more battle for politics.
The current leader, in name, was his heir, Alicia Solomon. Though in fact she was little more than a figure head of a growingly discontented populous.
Her surrogate brothers had achieved great status, Jakim Solomon as a general battling rebels in the provinces, and Atlas was the arguably the most powerful man in the world.
The young emperor was now merely a mirror to the wars of the time, immature to the maximum he kept his attentions on the courtiers daughters and the wine that he still did not enjoy but though it made him look older.

The noblemen parted as zhashban and sierra walked though the noblemen parted as if they possessed the bubonic plague.
Alecia was the only one who came to them, as customary, she waited for them to speak first.

((I desperately feel I am needed on more, I will see if I can have access for a few hours at night if not I shall PM my e-mail to sampson and Shadow, unless they would rather not, so that I may continue my watching of the thread through them))

Zhash shrugged to Sierra as everyone else but a lone woman put parted from their path, "I guess that answers that question."

Though not used to all customs of the Camador city, Zhash knew enough that he would have to speak first, "I am Zhashban, a messenger of Atlas. I am seeking Cador Solomon. Do you know where I could find him?"

------------------------------------------------------------
Retta pulled out a knife as he carved an "X" into a large beech next to him. Fifteen "X"'s now dotted the landscape of Northern Byros. Fifteen attempts, fifteen failures. Retta began to fear for his life. If he did not bring the rebel back soon, Villefort would have his throat. And now there were rumors that Atlas and the now feared Maxim had made their way to that same area. Retta shook his head. Already the barbarian lord had dispatched of fifteen of the area's best buyable assassins and mercenaries. How does he do it? Even the monks of Kra' Akken will not help me! Despair ripped through Retta's body. Perhaps this would be the end of his rope. He had little to live for anyways. Even in his travels, Retta had heard news of the devastation of Yitai. There was no reward left for him but simple revenge. Sitting back down, Retta thought about what he would do next.

Alecia looked forward at them the mention of Cador Solomon.

"My uncle has been dead these three weeks, sir. I am his heir, Alecia Solomon.

I will take the message of Atlas personally in the private meeting quarters. Follow me."

She swept out of the room towards the private halls.

((Sorry for the delay. Hier kommt Ich.

Not far from where Retta sitting, the sound of hoofbeats could be heard thundering across the plains. It belonged only to a single horse, though. And while it was harder to discern from the sound of the oncoming horse, a man could also be heard singing one of the old heroic lays of the Barbarian Tribes.

It was an incredibly tall man, of well-muscled and athletic frame. His long red hair was whipping about in the wind, his head held high and tilted back, basking in the sunlight as the rider continued to sing in his rich bass voice. Despite his whimsical demeanor in that respect, he was clearly not some happy-go-lucky traveler. The rider had a voulge's shaft resting on his shoulder, steadied by his right hand as he held the reigns of his powerful grey, white-spotted horse with his left hand. Leather gauntlets covered his hands, leading up to darkened steel vambraces. Underneath a matching breastplate and pauldrons were furs and leathers, keeping him warm and well-protected. Aside from that, he definitely looked the part of his profession: A Barbarian Warlord.

While not the most heavily armored man in the world, he was very well equipped for a Barbarian. His legs were protected by heavy leather boots and steel greaves, with a plate strapped onto the outside of each of his thighs. On his lower back were a pair of broadswords, sheathed in an "x", as if his voulge and armor didn't make him seem formidable enough.

Between his armaments, garments and stature, this man would have been the very image of intimidation were it not for his cheerful demeanor. But even that quickly changed as he stopped singing and slowed down, smiling as he surveyed the sprawling fields around him with his bright green eyes. And that's when his eyes landed on the tree, and more importantly, the man beneath it.

Clearly, he was a Barbarian by dress... but he was no common man. Whoever this man was that loitered about in the plains, he had the potential to be of value to the rider.

"Hya!" the rider shouted as he kicked his heel into the side of his horse and pulled the reigns toward the tree. The cheer vanished from his expression, and those green eyes narrowed and became dark and menacing. A scowl formed on his lips, deepening the shadow of the rough stubble on his rugged face, and his voulge was taken from his shoulder and held with the blade off to the side, and most of the shaft behind the rider's back, in an attack position.

"You there!" he called once close enough, slowing down, but not stopping as he began to circle the tree. "Tell me your name! Then, if I do not move to attack you first, you may tell me your business in my lands! Nicholai Prideslayer does not tolerate intrusion without good reason! State yours, lest a great misfortune occur in your VERY near future!"

((Again, I've been gone for a college visit. It was not in state and involved a two night stay, so I've been gone for quite a while. But, now it's time to get this thing moving again.))

Inwardly, Zhash's surprise nearly took the life from him, but he showed now sign of it outwardly, excepter perhaps for a short pause and then a stutter when he began to speak again, "Oh...I see. I..."

Zhash followed behind Alecia as she led the way to a small, private chamber, "It is all right. I can tell by your dress you are an outsider, and therefore unaware of many things of this city. But, what is this message from Atlas you have brought?" Alecia's voice soothed Zhash somewhat, and now fully recovered, Zhash replied confidently.

"I was sent to tell Solomon, now you, that Atlas has reached an agreement with the King in Avalon. It does not suit him perfectly, but serves his purpose well enough. In return, Atlas has went off with an elf of Dis to find a barbarian who threatens the king. Atlas sent me here to reestablish his interests in the city. He said you, if Solomon could not, could help me at least get a head start."

Alecia gazed intently past Zhash for a moment before answering, "That is news indeed. You have come a long way, and a longer way still will you need to come in order to reach the goal you are reaching for. You must have it in you, though, for Atlas does not send impotetents. But first, who is this that accompanies you?" Alecia looked to Sierra.
-----------------------------------------------
Retta staggered back and up the tree as far as he could before regaining his composure to look into the eye of the very man he was trying to assassinate. Many years posing with an affected personality had its benefits after all, "I am Retta Yoto, and I've come to warn you of a great and terrible danger headed your way. However," Retta gulped down a breath of air, "it seems you have found me first. Forgive me in my idleness."

Nicholai scoffed at Retta's remark. "You seem awfully fearful for one who has come to help me. And tell me, just what danger could be so horrible to one such as I? Just how much do you know of me?" Honestly, Nicholai had stood up to Dwarves and their war machines and won. What could be worse? The Empires and "civilized" peoples in the continent had never succeeded in amassing an army great enough to match the zeal of his people, and Nicholai was confident that none of their warriors could stand up to a virtual god of the battlefield like himself. The fact that Retta was hiding up in the tree suggested that either he was lying, or he was a coward. Traitors and cowards were equal in his eyes, so it did not matter which he was; Nicholai already disliked him.
