  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Ever strayed from the path of salvation?

Greetings friends!

I am rather new to the Christian faith, born again a number of years ago and loving it!

I was wondering if any of you would like to share your personal experiences about any hardships you've dealt with in your Christian lives.

1) Have you ever felt like you fell out of love with Jesus, or strayed from the path of salvation?

and 2) If so are you still a Christian, and why or why not?

and 3) How have you dealt with times when you have strayed from faith?

Thank you for your input and discussion!

this is a difficult question to answer, where I can't say I ever veered to far from actual faith in the sense of believing in God I can say I have at times steered from faith shown by works.. as james said I'll show you my faith by my works.. he meant to show that your following correctly in God's footsteps you'll do so by staying true to the word, not falling off and doing your own thing *drugs, drinking fornicating etc* so with that being said yes I have veered from faith.. off the beating path.. just as much or maybe even more so than your average stereotypical Christian if there is such a thing as a Stereotypical Christain.. with all that being said I've learned quite a few things through my journey, some of which being having status isn't what its cracked up to be.. chasing money at the cost of your integrity will get you nowhere, abusing the love of others will ruin yours and their happiness, and falling into worldy things *drugs, alcohol, lust, vanity* will leave you broken down and pennyless... I have been through a baptism by fire being tested in the same manner in which God tested Job.. and in doing so have come to a unshakable faith.. with that being said if you wish to read about my journey I have spent a great deal of time writing up a testamonie about it for new Christians such as yourself. Hopefully by reading it you can see some of what not to do.. and also see evidence of Gods Grace and certain existance manifested.. http://www.christianforums.com/t7558016/

I was an atheist for a long time, I guess it's easier to try and shut God out of your heart at times... I made fun of Christians and thought they were crazy and stupid. Looking back I can't believe how wrong it was! If someone mocked my faith now I would be hurt, though I did it all the time. I know I'll never live without faith in God again.
