Do any of you ever feel lonely in your positions as ministers?

I find that I do, even though I am quite introverted. I sometimes wish there was someone who I could discuss things with that would understand what I feel and where I am coming from. How do you cultivate those kinds of professional relationships?

If there is a network of pastors in your town, join it. If not, then form one with a few pastors in your area. Get together and meet to pray and talk. Believe me, it will help a LOT. I found that, anyway.

I will be praying that you could find such fellowship, and perhaps also one or two who may join your congregation who you could be friends with instead of just "the Pastor"... Shallom.

... inspite of the fact that I live with a circle of co-ministers. Loneliness will always be a part of any life that is marked by the fallenness of human nature. In fact, without loneliness, individuals won't feel the need the work for the growth of a Christian community. However, remember that loneliness should not overwhelm us. It can be transformed into solitude, an experience of the desert, the experience of our utter need of God. I think this is why the early hermits were driven to the wilderness. They had to be alone with God.

Yes, I have in the past, and still do occasionally.....Preachers called by God often spend much time alone with the Lord. They are often misunderstood. Over the years, the Lord has placed people in my live for a season...we would fellowship, pray and uplift one another. I had two very close friends, one a preacher, and another a gospel singer. We still stay in contact, but at one time we had contact daily...helped me to talk and pray with like minded brothers in the Lord.
