This was on another thread, and is what prompted me to ask if any of you have encountered actual prophecies or actual prophets filled with the Holy spirit. We hear so much about false ones, but i was curious to know what stories there are of real ones/ any prophecies that have come true?
the reason so many people deny the true prophets is because they've seen so many false ones. it's sad, but just because there are false prophets that doesn't mean that there aren't any real ones still around. God always preserves a REMNANT for Himself just as He did in the days of Elijah. and they're usually on the backside of the desert.... they are the ones with no names and no huge followings. these are the ones that God is calling to forefront right now, because they're not looking to make a name for themselves. they are only looking to lift up the name of Jesus
Amen to that, Jazzy!
Does anyone have personal testimony of this or have heard of stories similar to this that they can share?
Yes, i can testify beyond any doubt whatsoever that i have truly known a Spirit-filled prophet of the Lord. my best friend, who died over 2 years ago, was profoundly gifted in the prophetic.
you want to know what kind of things he told me and how those things came true? well, try this one. in 2000, kentucky elected it's 1st republican governor in about 30 years. this governor, ernie fletcher, ran on a platform that he would change state government's corrupt "old boy" hiring system. he also gave out that he was a Christian and his overall platform was highly moral and etc. well, long story short, fletcher got in office and proceeded to behave pretty much as all his predessors had, appointing his buddys to choice state jobs. my friend, Dennis, told fletcher's personal secretary that he needed to repent and change his practise, because God was getting ready to judge him. Dennis' word was ignored. about a month, month and a half later, ernie fletcher went into the hospital for a gall bladder operation and almost died. when he got out of the hospital, he political enemies attacked him and hounded him till the day he left - he came close to going to jail. it was all in the press, you could hunt it down and read all about fletcher's problems. there won't be any mention of Dennis, tho.
of course, you didn't know dennis and don't know me, so my anedote probably won't mean anything to you. so i'll just say this further: being a prophet does not bring a lot of happiness to the prophet. it is not an easy life. a prophet will be ordered by God to tell people things they don't want to hear - and they don't often take it well.
dennis told me that sometimes when he wanted to sleep, he couldn't, because in the Spirit he could hear children crying. so i say to anybody who thinks they would like to become a prophet, "You won't enjoy it."
but knowing him changed my life, for sure.
