Ephesians 1God the SaviourBlessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us, in Christ, with every spiritual blessing in heaven.

In love, he chose us before the creation of the world,
to be holy and spotless in his sight.

He predestined us to be his adopted children through Jesus Christ,
simply because it pleased him to do so.

This he did for the praise of the glory of his grace,
of his free gift of us to his Beloved,

in whose blood we have gained redemption,
and the forgiveness of our sins.

This he did according to the riches of his grace,
which he gave us in abundance,

with all wisdom and discernment,
revealing to us the mysteries of his will,
because it pleased him to do so.

In this action he has planned, in the fulfilment of time,
to bring all things together in Christ,
from the heavens and from the earth.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.

Prayers and Intercessions

The Holy Spirit gave life to Christ’s humanity and made him in turn a giver of life. Let us call joyfully on the Lord:- Renew all things, Lord, and give them life.

Christ, saviour of the world, king of the new creation, turn our minds towards your kingdom where you sit at the right hand of the Father. Renew all things, Lord, and give them life.
Lord, you live for ever in your Church. Through your spirit, lead it forward into truth and faithfulness. Renew all things, Lord, and give them life.

Take pity on those who labour, on the sick and the dying. Give them strength and endurance. Renew all things, Lord, and give them life.

Christ, inexhaustible Light, as the day’s light fades we offer you our devotion and we ask for the light of your resurrection to shine upon our brethren who have died.Renew all things, Lord, and give them life.

Apocalypse 4,5The song of the redeemedYou are worthy, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honour and power;
for you made all things, and it is by your will that they existed and were created.

You are worthy, Lord, to receive the book and open its seals,
for you were killed, and with your blood you have ransomed people from every tribe and language and people and nation,
and made them rulers and priests for God; and they will rule over the earth.

The Lamb is worthy, who was killed, to receive power and riches and wisdom, strength and honour, glory and blessing.

Prayers and Intercession

Christ was enfolded in the earth and emerged to the light of a new glory. Let us rejoice and cry out to him:
- King of glory, hear us. For bishops, priests, and deacons: let them perform their ministry with care. We beg you, Lord: let them bring you the gift of a people eager to do good. - King of glory, hear us.For teachers whose task it is to serve your Church – we beg you, Lord: let them seek your truth in purity of heart. - King of glory, hear us.For the Church’s faithful: may they fight the good fight of faith. We beg you, Lord: let them run the race through, and earn the prize of your kingdom. - King of glory, hear us.On the cross you cancelled the sentence of damnation: loose our bonds and free us from the shadows. - King of glory, hear us.You went down into the underworld and threw open its gates: admit to your kingdom our brethren who have died.- King of glory, hear us.

Prayers and Intercessions
Christ rose from the dead and sits at the right hand of the Father. Let us beg him:
- Ever-living Christ, hear our prayer.
Remember, Lord, all who work in your service:
let them give to your people an example of holy living.
- Ever-living Christ, hear our prayer.
Give the rulers of the state a spirit of justice and peace so that we can all live together in harmony.
- Ever-living Christ, hear our prayer.
Make our lives grow in wholeness; make the land fertile, so that the hungry are fed.
- Ever-living Christ, hear our prayer.
Saviour Christ, you have filled the whole world with light and called all creatures to life: shine eternal light on our brethren who have died.
- Ever-living Christ, hear our prayer.
Give the rulers of the state a spirit of justice and peace so that we can all live together in harmony.
- Ever-living Christ, hear our prayer.
