I like Evanescence, but I haven't listened to the entire CD yet. From what I recall, all the songs I've heard I've liked...I am sick to death of "Bring Me To Life" though. I think my two favorites are "My Immortal" (the video version of the song), and "Anything For You".

Interesting tidbit-since I am an actively participating member of the anime music video community (which is actually why I've heard "Anything For You"-it was in a video for the series 'Naruto'), I can say that Evanescence videos are very common (and I mean very common).

However, quite possibly the first Evanescence music video (period) was an AMV. It used Shamanic Princess as the footage, and an EP version of "Imaginary". The band wasn't even national yet, since some of the reviews say that they've never even heard of them before (and considering that the video is from 2001, that's a good year-and-a-half before the band started getting recognition from the media). In any case the video was actually approved of by Amy Lee! For the heck of it, I'll provide a link to the video. If you're not a member of the site, you can't use the Local download, but you can use the Direct download. Just make sure you have a fast Internet connection, cause the video is at least 39 MB.

Oh, and since Lacuna Coil was brought up:

-Z-, if you want to check them out, I highly suggest the song "Self-Deception".

wow... i love evanescence, and i bought their piano book. I can play every one of their songs now!!! And I agree with the one that said that Tourniquet reminded them of their own relationship with God... I can so relate! they have to be my absolute favorite secular band out there. Their lyrics are really good and stuff, but i have to say that their music is what draws me in. Even tho they seem to return to the whole e minor thing, but hey its all gravy!

I love evanescence - my flatmate bought the cd, and bought me tickets to go see them - best money he ever spent on me I reckon :D

My favourite songs are Tourniquet and My Immortal (I can play this on piano now :))... both mean a lot to me.

How do you feel about their way in reaching out to God? I think anyone who has ever listened to Tourniquet can feel how much they are searching for God... the lyrics in that song remind me so much of how I've felt in my search to better know the Lord...

Those are my two favorite songs as well. Can you tell me where you got the piano music for My Immortal? Tourniquet just makes me happy that I'm not dead.

I like evanescence ~and I'm impressed with myself for spelling their name correctly :p
I like alot of the songs from the fallen cd, particularly 'whisper,' but there is a latin (?) chant at the end of it which makes me kinda nervous...'cause I don't speak latin but I'd kinda like to know what they're talkin about...
Also, I wonder just how their sound will evolve from the break-up that just occurred. I think amy's voice is absolutely fantastic...a hauntingly-beautiful powerhouse but am wondering (and hoping this isn't the case) that the group is just a one(or two or three) hit wonder.

Well...

I had a look at the new and improved website (looks REALLY good with the flash bits), and there was nothing in the news column that mentioned a breakup, same when I looked on the fan site and in the entertainment news area...

I think I did hear that she did a solo single with someone else though - maybe that's where the rumour started???

Yeah, the song's name is "Broken". It was originally performed by Seether, and then it got remade with her vocals and strings for the movie soundtrack. I heard about the break-up thing also, but it was in reference to having a lot more material to work with now. One of the reasons the Seether duet track was done was because she was seeing the lead singer. I think maybe it was that they broke up, so there'll be a lot of stuff to use as inspiration for new material.
