Good riddance to Bayh. Maybe its a good thing Coats won his seat. Ellsworth was mediocre as our congressman and Coats is old and will hopefully die soon giving us a chance to get a real progressive.

I know, the old conservative meme. Intolerance of intolerance is worse than plain old intolerance. Fact is Dan Coats is much older than his last opponent and in all probability likely to die sooner, at which time maybe we can elect a nominee in the primary instead of having one hand-picked for us by blue dog ConservaDems. Indiana is every much a swing-state as Ohio or Pennsylvania despite the assumption by Republicans that it is a given. We voted for Obama and until this election had more congressional seats held by Democrats than Republicans, and of the top 10 cities 8 have Democratic mayors. We need candidates who can motivate that base again. At the time of Coats' death maybe then Governor Weinzapfel will decide to run and we won't have to sacrifice a house seat.
