I thought it was a GREAT film. Very funny, great message and just a lot of fun.

i am minded of "Judging a book by it's cover".
But if even the cover is blasphemous, then why would a Christian want to go any further than that?
Because it's not blasphemy and some Christians realize that the movie is fictional and is in no way meant to represent any kind of realistic portrayal of God or the events.
Saw it today in the local movie house. Just Gr8 fun. But…..just how did they get the animals to do what they did???
1. It attempts to ascribe power and authority to "Evan" than belong only to God.
2. It mocks His word.
3. The characters in the movie blaspheme His name several times.
In the fictional context of Bruce Almighty God gives him his powers.
In this movie, Evan is carrying out the role of Noah, not "playing God."
How?
Oh my god.
First, blasphemy is defined in the bible as calling something that is holy as being evil or vice versa.
Second, "oh god" is not blasphemy or taking God's name in vain. To take his name in vain, we'd have to know his name wouldn't we? God is not God's name.
I understand that. However, the Bible calls God alone "Almighty" and tell us that God refuses to share His glory with any man.
And yet, the Bible refers to God as "God" quite often.
It's a title. *rolls eyes*
Because God is a univerally understood term.
And because it is universally understood to be referring to God, it is His name.
Whether it's fictional or not doesn't matter.
It's blasphemous on three counts:
1. It attempts to ascribe power and authority to "Evan" than belong only to God.
2. It mocks His word.
3. The characters in the movie blaspheme His name several times.
