  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you wondered why euthanasia sounds a bit like 'youth in asia'...

(Well that's my sad attempt to pull this thread back on topic, lol.)

The thing is, that people think that euthanasia is only about sadness, but when someone dies this way, he or she celibrates the good life...because they fought to get it back but couldn't....yet they accept that they had great quality of life, it is not only hating life and getting out.....it is loving life so much that they rather live a short full life than a long painful life.....

At least that is how I feel it....

the Two Ronnies did this joke...

close in on very serious news reporter...

Tonight, we talk about a very serious subject, euthanasia(phonetically) and just why its such an issue. Joinging me this evening is proffessor blogs, an expert on the topic, and between us we might just be able to shed some light on this very controversial topic, and just why people have such extreme feelings about it. So professor tell me why...

camera zooms out to take in whole set, big sign behind the reporter and professor can now be seen "Discussion tonight, Youth in Asia"

hahahaha, thanks for sharing lightHorseman, the two ronnies definatly have a good sense of humour.

*nods* fair enough, at the end of the day each individual person is most likely to know what is going to bring them greater joy and fullfillment in their life.

Actual conversation I heard between a friends dad and some other person.

(Friends dad had a cold for a while)
-FD: *stream of snnezing and coughing*
-Guy: Myabe you should try echinasia (sp?).
-FD: ha ha, this cold may be bad, but I don't think it's bad enough to kill myself.
-Guy: Huh?
-FD : Ya know, euthanasia.
-Guy : What do kids in china have to do with anything?

It seems to me that you don't get it.All the things you describe are what life amounts to.Shure there is pain and misery, but if one takes their eye off of that, they will see beauty.

Where is the beauty in dying an excrutiating death as your body slowly fails, propped up unnaturally by medical science so that every shred of pain and suffering can be wrung from your crippled form?

The worst thing I've ever witnessed in this regard was an old man dying of kidney cancer: the man was losing blood all the time, and it clogged up his urethra all the time, causing the sort of pain that is usually associated with kidney stones.
He was 89 years old, had just three more weeks to live, and yet his doctor refused to give him strong painkillers, arguing that those might cause ADDICTION. (And no, no doctor is THAT stupid. He just couldn't tell the old man's relatives that he was just taking care of his budget and didn't want to spend more than necessary on a hopeless case. The insanity of the German health-care system is devastating.)

I'm only glad that I wasn't asked to sit through his deathwatch. My colleague had to spend the last week at his house, 24/7. In the end, the old man was screaming all the time, and started to talk to deceased schoolfriends of his that had been dead for decades. Not even the presence of his wife could alleviate his suffering.

No, not just German. That happens in America, too.

God knows I'm not a perfect man, but it would be very hard for me to watch something like that without taking a life.

It would seem just to me for any who enforce such suffering to have it visited upon them. Though it's not my job or my place to see that it happens, the sinful nature in me would be sorely tempted to take God's judgement into my own hands.

Cruelty like that is worthy of swift punishment.

Sorry to hear that Jane. I experienced a budget problem myself when I was lying on an operation table. It is simple, they could not help me with a new kind of catheter because they had already reached the budget. But in this case, the cardiologist cursed like something I have never heard before...he was so angry, mad,....no outraged by this policy that he almost choked on his on rage......

They helped me six months later after the new budget started. I didn't need to go on a waiting list. It was so unfair....

But in case of this man he should have been at least sedated to feel no pain. I have heard that some coutries have houses where the patients can be sedated until they die.....it's a sort of passive euthanasia....you are not aware of the world anymore. You get fluids and so on, but you can die in peace. I saw a docu on it once. The family gathered around the woman who was in such pain and they said all goodbye to her. Then she went to sleep. Because the body is weak, it will take less long time to die and sometimes the sedation will not help and they give a bit more (with the approval of the patient, the family, a doctor and a police officer....in that country there has to be a police officer as a witness of the active euthanasia).

I wish that man had a doctor who cared for it's patients, and not for the money.

That wouldn't have helped the dying man either, would it? The biggest problem wasn't the doctor - but his relatives, who refused to go to a different GP because of some deluded sense of LOYALTY. "He has been our family doctor for thirty years, and we won't betray him now."

Cruelty like that is worthy of swift punishment.
Maybe watching him die like that was punishment enough for his stubborn children - and as for the doctor: I doubt that it is possible to act like that without damaging one's psyche/soul. I'm sure that he has his ghosts, haunting him in the dark hours between midnight and dawn.

I never said it would help... but it would be the inclination I would have (not that I act on all my inclinations).

As satisfying as it might be to think that the spirit of this man is haunting the people who caused him suffering, I sincerely hope he didn't stick around for payback. There's so many better things to do than bother mortals, particularly the pathetic ones.

Oh, I wasn'T speaking about actual ghosts - just about psychological ones. Few people are callous enough not to be stung by their own conscience, deny it as they may.

And I do not draw satisfaction from this - it's sad that the poor guy had to die in such a fashion, it's sad that his relatives didn't have the guts/brains to go to another GP when they had the choice, and it's sad that this doctor refused to treat his patient properly for economical reasons. Too many souls (as in: psyche) were hurt and harmed by this whole episode, in various ways.

(Did I already mention how much I hate the exclusive focus on economic productivity that is such a hallmark of our current age? Economy *is* important, but especially in the medical sector, other factors should be more important than making a profit.)

Can I heal myself? I am serious here.

So, how do I self-heal my cardiomyopathy and heartfaillure?

Sure, you could.
You could self- climb mount Everest too.
But it ain't easy.
Hiring a guide is better.

You could self coach in ice skating and expect to take home an Olympic gold.
But hiring a coach is better.

You could expext to just self-heal too.
But having a guide works better.

How to?
In a nutshell, you shut off your conscious interference.
Run the mind's diagnostics program.
Follow its instructions.

I gather your instructions are purely sub-concious based after 'shut off your conscious interface'. Anthrosopoghists have a similar thought with the 'higher self', however they identify it as being their 'true self' who gives them the best answer for themselevs.

So to keep on topic, what if the instruction returned is 'die'?

LOL.....well, climbing the Mount Everest is one way of euthanasia......

Honestly, you have no idea what I am capable of in my mind. That is the problem...I do want a lot of things, but my body refuses to cooperate.

I was born with it: I have a different heartmuscle from yours. Mine is kaput...it is a mess....my heart only beats in the ventricles, the atria are not working......it's just a BIG huge mess. My body is tired when I get up and tired when I go to sleep. I cough, get naseaus, have an enlarged liver, have tons of meds and I need a wheelchair.......

Belive me, in my mind I want to climb the mountains, dive the deep seas, swim with the whales and so on. I want a LOT!!!!!!

It's sweet of you to say, but it doesn't work that easy....I wish it was that easy.

Honestly,
*each* of us is capable of Choices, both: destructive :(, and Constructive :)"

Which is why looking at it, from our vantage-point, we do have an Idea of many wonderful, splendiferous successes, you are yet capable of. And I suspect, so do you :)

I do want a lot of things, but my body 'refuses to cooperate'.
This (glove, or outer covering)-thing you call your "body", in a evidently demonstrated fashion
serves as but the re-presentation of the *Real-you*; are you aware of this?

I was born with it:
You were 'diagnosed AT? birth', were you?

Supposing you were. so? - While yet inside your *mortal-body*, you have opportunity, to continue resolving many such challenges, truely.

For instance, a little girl was born with 'spinal-bifida', and had spent most of her short life in a wheel-chair. But then one day: a woman came into her life, who knew she was capable of more, who encouraged her to
1. *Forgive* - what happened way back when, and
2. *Love* - only love... Herself, for any 'mistaken, limited' decision and choices, she made back there, while developing in the womb.
3. *Make new goals*, positive, constructive goals that passionately-Happily...excited her, and made her want to shout, and :clap:jump with wanton glee and joy.

This little girl, Trusting what this woman told her, did AS she was guided (and yes, there's more to the guidance), and in a month's time (the legs - that MD's told her "have NO chance of ever, Ever moving") - she got them to move... spontaneously, 2 inches - as was witnessed
And
what about Athletes? - ever heard of average, common individuals, who supposedly only for 'therapy', started as (mis-structured, mis-functioning, mis-taken) kids *playing* in some sport.
But somewhere along the way, they chose to Adopt eminently better BELIEFS, which they then Acted-on (ignoring any/all nay-sayers). And look what successes... some achieved.

What's the difference between their BELIEFS, and yours?

I have a different heartmuscle, from yours.

Mine is kaput...it is a mess....my heart only beats in the ventricles, the atria are not working......it's just a BIG huge mess.
In all likelihood, your heart-muscle is structured, like everyone else's (with 2 atria & ventricles) that works fine enough.

That, currently, your own heart isn't working, as well as you'd like it to - is like I said already, a function of the *Real-you*, (the part of your mind, with which currently you're not in synergy). Synergy you can yet enjoy...

My body is tired when I get up, and tired when I go to sleep. I cough, get naseaus, have an enlarged liver, have tons of meds and I need a wheelchair...
Well great! - and to this "rich, full life" you say you have,

Would you like to ADD another *rich, full life*...
with no need? for a wheel chair, no need? for constant coughing, medicating, nausea, liver failing, and tiredness, and no need? to clamor for 'euthanasia'.

Would you like to ADD an even full-er life? ~ a life, that ... well, you get to choose the rich full details of ...

Belive me, in my mind I want to climb the mountains, dive the deep seas, swim with the whales and so on. I want a LOT!!!!!!
This little girl, and millions like her, each & all want alot, too.

It's sweet of you to say, but it doesn't work that easy....I wish it was that easy.
While 'simply wishing' may be insufficient, to get you what you want... Consider carefully the Awesome, powerfully-positive, and constructively creative choices..., & decisions of the *Real-you*.

I too wish you WELL

Annie
