Yes, indeed.

They NEED to play catchup because of Trump's actions.
Because other Presidents have not required them to keep to the agreements they signed. Nice to have a President with a back bone
And many in the Us celebrate that fact and a soon to be much stronger armies and defensive infrastructure in Poland and Germany. Poland has conscripted all their possible soldiers for the military.
Again - not true Poland is not currently reintroducing conscription. Instead, the Polish government is focusing on providing military training to its citizens. Deputy Defense Minister Tomczyk stated that while they are not planning to bring back conscription, they want every Polish citizen to have the opportunity to undergo military training

CONCLUSION OF EUROPE
They cannot count on the US coming to the defense of NATO countries (and certainly not those countries not in NATO like the Ukraine).

I am NOT saying that the US won't support European countries, just that we can't be counted on to do so.
Do you read your post before you hit post?
AND JUST BTW
There is ONE country that used to count on the US much more than it ever will again. That country is Canada. Get very used to increased electricity prices.
Thank you for you opinion - it might be just as informed as others.

There are thousands of statements of Trump actions and statements since 2025. We each can judge his attitudes and commitments to Putin, to the NATO and to Europe.
And yet - you have not provided one.

The troops are there - we sent them - zero has changed - the 20,000 troops are in Poland.

Animosity towards the President doesn't reflect the reality that there are boots on the ground right now. Alluding to the error that there are no troops there is not anymore viable than the 'remains to be seen' illustration.

I agree that some critics of President Trump exacerbate issues that do not exist. The US involvement with NATO remains unchanged from January 19, 2025, to today. The US commitment to defend NATO members has not changed.

Nevertheless, the United States has ceased sharing intelligence with an ally currently under attack by Russia. While it is understood that President Trump intends to apply pressure on President Zelensky to enter negotiations, is it prudent to withhold intelligence from the Ukrainian military during a Russian assault? What message does this action convey to other US allies who rely on American support for their security?

Call me when it actually happens.

hogwash - just because the President is putting America first and requiring them to pay what they have already agreed to is not reason to believe the worst - but hey! It's Trump, so they can say whatever they want
Trump has the RIGHT as president to choose which countries to support.

There have always been those in the US that support the America First movement, going back to the Monroe Doctrine. Millions have believed that we should not spend US resources to help or defend lands across the oceans. Of course, selling arms is different. That is is simply being a successful gun-runner.

There are also those in the US who support the idea of the US being the leader of the world's democracies, the leader in providing aid to the poor and oppressed throughout the world, the leader in the world fight against hunger and disease.
====
THESE HAVE OPPOSING VIEWS since the 1700's.
======
To give an historical example. Europe was at war for two years from 1939 through 1941. The America First folks and many of our rich refused to get involved. It took an attack of Hawaii for us to enter the war.

One result of the war was for the US to become "the leader of the free world" and rebuilder of Europe and Japan. We led the idea of the UN and all the international organizations. It soon became clear that Churchill was right regarding Stalin, so NATO was formed. For 80 years there has been greater peace and prosperity than at any time in the history of the world.

And YES, much of this prosperity has been because the West has spent so little on its military and has had relatively free trade throughout the free world. We might check out the average percentage of tariffs over the years and when we have had great prosperity.
==========
TIMES CHANGE, PEOPLE FORGET
Choices have been made, changes have happened. The relationships with Canada, Germany and Poland cannot simply go back to where they were in 2015. Let's dig out all the old banners of "Americ First".

That word I have a problem with. Them. Who's them in this case? Name countries, be specific. This nebulous "them" is useless and just painting an unclear picture, which I think is part of the reason. It's easier to argue against something opaque than clearcut.

just because the President is putting America first
You mean this kind of first:
"If you want to be first," he said, "you must be last of all, and servant of all." Mk 9:35

Or some egoistic and arrogant kind of being first?

Is the author of that statement the current President of the US?

Who in the European union is doing this? Perhaps they can be an example for others.

Them are the member states of NATO who years ago agreed in writing as to what their financial role would be and who are not keeping their word.

Name them. Like I said, be specific. You're still being nebulous about "them".

And I am not going to. Folks can use THEIR favorite media to see Trump's actions regarding Putin and NATO.
gotcha

Only 35% of NATO Countries Meet the Group’s Defense Spending Target

That means that 20 NATO countries were expected to spend less than 2% of their GDP on defense, based on the 2023 estimates. The countries with the lowest percentages of spending were Luxembourg (0.72%), Belgium (1.13%) and Spain (1.26%). Five other countries, including Canada, did not meet the 1.5% mark.
Despite being a major contributor to NATO otherwise, Germany had fallen below the 2% minimum as of 2023. But – perhaps in response to the uproar over Trump’s comments – the spokesman for the German defense ministry announced on Feb. 14, 2024, that the country had hit the 2% mark, which is thanks at least in part to a government allocation for defense spending.

Did you bother to look at the date on that thing? March 2024. Try again. Name the countries.

One should definitely pay attention to the changes in the last couple of years, under some president not named Trump.

If you dislike something, do you blame the MSM? The Trump administration is consistently criticizing Europe, and it's not the MSM's fault that people are discussing NATO's future.
No. Just the fear mongering in general i’m tired of.
