  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have read all the replies, but the bottom line is simple: regardless of one's behavior one still goes to heaven.
And yet how can a person even have eternal security since there is no way in this world of knowing ehrthwr or not the faith was sufficient to merit salvation and heaven??

Repentance and works do not merit salvation. They are both fruits of faith. If you have faith repentance and works come naturally. It is having this kind of faith that saves someone. Not the works or repentance or how much works or repentance.

I have read articles that present NT verses that contradiction the concept of "perseverance of the saints" or guaranteed salvation. I am curious as to how the supporters of the concept refute these claims regarding these verses.

I am not at all Calvinist. Here is a forum where most Calvinist hang out. I once worked with a Calvinist who would argue day and night with you regarding the doctrines of salvation...

That forum is for Christians only. But I didn't see specifically refutations of the employment of verses that are used to challenge guaranteed salvation.
