Dear Old Friends,
It's been quite awhile since I've been here. My last life update post was in 2015 on OBOB. After that, I didn't post until now. Before that, I hadn't been active for about a decade. The people at OBOB and TAW were a central part of my online and religious experience during a very interesting time in my life. Thank you for that, and God bless you all for your presence.
A lot has happened in the past 15 years. But through it all, my Lord Jesus Christ has supported me, and God has been wondrously good to me through his Saints.
In my professional life, I went on to get a bachelor's in mathematics, a master's in mathematical physics, and a doctorate degree in mathematics education. I taught and did research at a university in central Texas for several years, and now I'm a manager of a data analyst team at a state government agency.
In my spiritual life, I remained with a Maronite Catholic parish until 2017. I served there as a catechist, lector, and choir member for about 13 years. In 2018, I was received into the Orthodox Church. In 2020, at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, I was married in the Orthodox Church in a small ceremony. My wife is amazing, and we are very happy together.
Nostalgia brought me back here. I'm a very different person now, hopefully in a good way, but I still value my connection to this community, and I'd like to strengthen and renew that connection. Unlike last time, in 2015, I'll try to stay active.
Sincerely,
Geoffrey
