I feel sad inside...

I respect Erwin's decision being that I have no right to demand anything since he owns the site and all... But, I have to admit I am very sad about this no longer being "Christian Forums"!

I said before, that the reason I came here several weeks ago was because I was looking for a place to grow in fellowship with other Christians -- I was not looking for a "social networking site". If I had wanted that I would've gone to MySpace!

I didn't realize how sad I would feel at this development... I almost feel like crying and I've only been on this site for a few weeks!!!

What's interesting is that I also have a mixed feeling about the following: Is this going to be like "false advertising" for people who are looking for a secular message board, are we then going to be accused of trying to protelytize everyone who comes here??? Or, are we truly seeing this place completely shifting away from a foothold in Christ?

OK, well I'm willing to stick around and see how it goes, but I've a feeling that after a period of a few months the look and feel around here is going to be radically different... And, not in a good way either when looking at it from a Christian Perspective...

No, I can see what you're saying jtbdad... But, as a new member here the name is what drew me in! Now... well, I sort of feel betrayed is all... I guess I would feel it even moreso, if I had been a member before the changes on 7/7/07...

You guys are really making a bigger deal out of this than it is. We all know that this website was heading in the wrong direction since the last rules implementation. The next logical step was exactly with what happen...declear this a social network. Its all it is, it lost it's Christian touch a long time ago.

Just venting NewGuy... Just venting... I'm starting to cheer up again already -- after praying about this that is!!!

I just think Erwin was extremely disingenuous by giving the impression the poll meant anything. He created the illusion that we might be able to keep a Christian site.

The second Erwin made his post that he was going to do what he felt was right regardless of the poll, everyone should have known he had already decided right then and there to change the site. Imho, Erwin was deliberately deceitful about the change.

What this does for me personally is that it actually allows me to stay. I had announced in another thread that I had one purpose for returning to CF and that was to convince Erwin to either 1. Return Christ as the center of CF and define Christian or 2. Remove my Saviors name from it.

I would have preferred 1 but at least 2 allows me to stay. Had he not done one of the other I would have once again been gone because while I have no problem being a Christian member of a secular message board I have a great deal of problem being a member of anything that is called after my Lord and is not distinctively Christian.

I tend to agree that he had already made his decision. You don't make as big a move as he did technologically without putting some time into it.

I am very serious when I say that I want a refund. I was supporting CHRISTIAN forums. As a site supporter I think it looks a bit like fraud.

What disgusts me particularly, is that the ad at the bottom to become a site supporter STILL says "Christian Forums".

Isn't that actually illegal? Soliciting funds for a non-existent organization? False advertisement?

Could anyone explain how this DOESN'T make Erwin a liar?

This is not a "flame", I'm not saying he IS a liar, I'd just like to know how you can say "I will" and then completely do the opposite and not be a liar.

He's not a liar because he changed his mind. At the time he posted this I am sure it was his intention to follow through as he said. For it to have been a lie he would have had to have posted it knowing he didn't intend to honor it.

Pretty big "mind change". He should have closed the poll the INSTANT he "changed his mind", and apologized and said he's changing it regardless. But, he didn't, did he? He just let it continue as if it meant something.
