As I stated in the OP, the reason for the ban is because the rules that allow discussions of that topic are limited to specific fora, but the avatars and signatures are seen in all posts over the entire board. Since all parts of your post are subject to the rules, we cannot have avatars or signatures that violate the rules for the other forums.

We would have to have a clear example that that is what it is used for. We know that this red one, and the purple one, are used for the homosexuality issue.

However the other issue is campaigning. It would have to be something that is not a campaigning issue.

I just wanted to make a final comment here. Ultimately, this forum belongs to the admins. They get to decide how to run things here. We agree, as users, to abide by their rules. This isn't the US where speech is almost 100% free and open. Keep that in mind when they issue declarations.

so like I could have in my signature about how blacks and whites should be treated equality (not in terms of marriage, but more in general because it may be illegal to come out and say, but there is still racism in this country. Would that be campaigning since it is not really a hot topic in a sense that gay rights are.

Your avatar, by definition, should say something about you. Having something that states what you believe or stand for is not against the rules, unless it is tackling an issue that is against the rules. Just standing for something is not campaigning, unless you are standing for something that is a campaign. (I hope that made sense.) Making people aware of a race issue I don't believe would be campaigning as we have declared that we will not support racism here on CF.

It was already stated by Tishri1, one of the site advisors, that you cannot use an equal sign for anything. If this changes, we will notify the membership.

Can't use an = for anything, very strange rule without a valid reason, but ok.
