Episode 4:10 - Something Nice Back Home

Overall I was dissapointed with the episode.

Russuo is dead. She's always been one of my faves! I was hoping against hope that she somehow survived the shot.

Jack getting sick was anti-climatical. Yes, there were a couple reasons. To show that he could sick, and that the island didn't want them off the island.

Hmm, just a thought I had now. Sawyer and company were on their way towards the beach. But they ran into the place where Russo was shot. Russo was on the way to the temple. What if that's where: A) Christian lead Claire or B) Sawyer stubbles apon. Maybe he sees something that makes him want to stay.

So, another reason that I was mad at the episode, but yet it wasn't the episodes fault:

There were like 5 tornados in the area last night. Which meant that the bottom 2 inches of the screen where telling me where the tornados were. So when Korean was spoken, I don't know what was said! So can someone tell me what Jin and Sun, then Jin and Charlotte talked about?

Sure, Jacob could use Christian's body or something. The Christian we see now could be Jacob or the Monster...I mean that the real Christian, the one who is Jack's father, is not Jacob...

Yes, the original Christian is dead. His spirit may be used/apart of Jacob, but he is not Jacob.

OK Episode-

-Jack-centric, and I really really hate Jack.
-The Juliet-Jack-Kate-Sawyer love square thing is boring
-No Locke or JACOB
-WHY ROUSSEAU WHY

Still, the part with Claire at the end was pretty cool. And Sawyer is becoming one of my favorite characters.

Ahem... I was talking about the story progression and how 4.9 was more climactic than 4.10 was. Trust me, I'm fully cognizant of how the strike screwed up season 4.

Some thoughts...

Jack steps on a Millennium Falcon toy. Luke Skywalker was raised by his uncle, as Aaron has started to be raised by his uncle in this episode. Star Wars also contained a brother and sister that did not know they were related

Hurley told Jack that he isn't supposed to be raising Aaron- remember the guy also told Claire that only SHE should raise him. I wonder if there is a connection?

A doctor shows Jack X-rays of someone's L4 vertebra. Ben's tumor was on his L4 vertebra.

There are paper ladybug, butterfly, and flower cutouts on Jack and Kate's refrigerator, just like in Santa Rosa hospital.

How is it that Miles can see Christian?- does that go along to his whole "talking to the dead thing"? Or is it that anyone could at that point and Sawyer wasn't awake. I suppose though Hurley saw him in the cabin... so yeah.

My theories about Jack getting sick, I think comes down to the faith vs science thing.

Lets look at Rose- she has "faith" or seems to "believe in" the island and she is healed.

Lock definitely believes in the island and therefore is healed. BUT! Remember when he "lost faith" in the island he lost the use of his legs?

Jack is clearly science all the way and by no means does he believe or have one iota of faith in the island therefore he got sick.

Ben had the tumor and while it would be safe to believe he has faith in the island, based on conversations with Lock, he has revealed that he's "lost touch" with the island and hence can no longer see/find Jacob. Could that be related somehow?

I love little connections like this. I have never seen the Star Wars movies so I'd never have picked that up.

Interesting theories floating around that I thought you guys might like to read:

Jacob is appearing in the form of Christian Shepherd. Jacob assumed the form of Christian Shepherd when the body in the coffin arrived during the crash of Oceanic 815. The reason the smoke-detector beeped before Christian Shepherd showed up is because "Christian" is the smoke monster.

The reason Sawyer stayed on the island was to continue looking for the missing Claire.

Claire is "undead." She telegraphs this when she says that she's "not seeing things anymore" (visions). She died when the rocket hit her bungalow. These "undead" characters may be "living" in a different timeline, connected to the Island's time-shifting powers. It is evident that Miles senses this and that was why he was not very concerned with the fact that she had wandered off. Dead characters on this show do seem to have some corporeal abilities (Charlie punching Hurley at the hospital, Christian holding the baby, etc.) This may even be the reason that certain characters STAY on the Island, because they need to maintain a connection with the Island to remain in their "undead timeline state" versus really dead. As in the movie The Sixth Sense, she doesn't knows she's dead but Miles does. Also worth mentioning is the scene where Miles was staring at her to the point where he seemed to be obsessed with something about her. We know that Miles has some sort of connection to sensing the dead. Perhaps he was sensing it at this moment?

The only people seeing visions in the future are Jack and Hurley because they are the only two that Jacob/the Island attempted to communicate with and perhaps the only two on Jacobs list that got away. (Do we know for certain Jack and Hurley are the only two on the original list that got off the island?)

I just watched the epi. There was no use in me watching the show as there were tornado warnings last week and the news affiliates like to but-in IN THE MIDDLE OF WHATEVER SHOW IS ON to show us the new radar of the storm.

Anyways, I thought Sawyer made it pretty clear to Kate when she was visiting him at his Other's-house that he wanted to stay because there was nothing back there for him. IIRC, he wanted Kate to stay too for the same reason.

Jack and Kate make me sick. I'm glad that it seems for now the relationship doesn't last long...

The Millenium Falcon actually referred to the parallelism between Sawyer and Jack with Aaron. (Sawyer is the "Han Solo" to Jack's "Luke" in a way-Kate's true love is for the Solo-esque character, Sawyer) If you didn't notice, it was set up with Sawyer caring for Claire/Aaron (Miles asked Sawyer if he was Claire's big brother-no, but Jack is-more parellelism), and Sawyer even finding Aaron and caring for him, and then a minute later Kate shields Aaron from Jack in the future. And it was all connected by the "thing" Kate is doing for Sawyer-perhaps helping his own daughter.
