Did they really put an implant in Sawyer when he was on Alcatraz? They faked him out, made him freak that his heart was going to explode, then told him they did nothing to him. Now that we know Claire has an actual implant, do you think they put one in him too?

Theories:

[Juliette]As a decoy. Ben knows that the Losties will eventually discover her deception, which will serve as a cover for his real infiltrator, possibly Jack.

The reason Ben wanted Micheal to bring Kate and Sawyer was as test subject for Juliet this could explain why they left them alone when they had sex. This was exactly what they wanted to happen.

Since something on the island is making women sterile, Sun is carrying Jae Lee’s baby and was pregnant before they crashed on the island, and Jin was not “cured” of infertility by the magic of the island.

Both Ben and Aaron were born on the Island, and both of them can & did become ill; Aaron got sick with a rash and Ben had cancer. This confirms the Island's reported healing powers only works on those who were not born there.

Given that women supposedly cannot have children on the island, this also brings Rousseau's story into question. As far as we know, Rousseau gave birth to Alex on the island, and thus Claire is not actually the first woman to have a successfuly birthing on the island or possibly Rousseau lied all along about her story.

I don't think women are sterile, per se, are they? I thought they could get pregnant, but they get sick and die from it.

Those are some very good theories, though. I never considered that Jack could be the real infiltrator!

Ok so I just had a thought about the whole time being different on/off the island.

So Juliette saw a live feed of her sister in Miami correct?? Well assuming the island is somewhere in the pacific, near australia, shouldn't it have been night time??? But it appears that it was daylight in both areas....

Thoughts?

It was near the NH Autumnal Equinox so there are 12 hours of daylight on that day. If it was early morning at one place and evening at the other it is possible.

Thinking about the daylight thing. Book club is in the morning, say before lunch. The island is somewhere in the pacific (we assume near Portland?) Portland is 4 hours behind Miami. Hawaii is 6 hours behind. That would make Miami approx. 4 - 7 PM. I can see that it would be daylight there. Pure speculation on my part.

Also I don't believe the island was anywhere near the US- it was more assumed that they crashed somewhere out Australia way...

Just saw this scene again. Ethan said to Juliet, sorry I had to strap you in, the last part of the flight was kind of bumpy. (Or something like that)

Last part of the flight? She was strapped in the sub, not a plane.

First of all, THAT WAS AWESOME.

I don't have time for all of my thoughts right now but just wanted to jump in re: Juliet's travel - I've heard discussion that they just put her in the submarine at the end for whatever reason, but that she actually got to the island by another method.

remember when desmond showed up in the boat and is wailing about there's nothing out there. everything is gone? well how does that coincide with ben showing juliette the feed about ehr sister. the world is obviously still there. whats desmond babbling about?

Maybe the magnetic force from the island prevented Des from actually going anywhere. But it does make me wonder where they came from in the sub and why they needed a sub to get to the island.

IMHO they used a sub for secrecy purposes. And they needed the sonar buoy for navigating to the island. There may be only one way on and off (or direction on and off)

So, I watched it a second time.

That song, "Downtown", was playing in the car when Rachel dropped Juliet off at the Dharma office with Richard and Ethan.

That explains her affinity for the song when she's listening to it in her house (on the island)... just before her bookclub meeting.
