  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anyone have weird pain in your lower back where the epidural needle was inserted? Sometimes it feels like my vertebrae are spreading, other times it feels like contractions. I'm just wondering if it's normal. My son is 14 months old.

I remember reading in the information booklets they gave me after my spinal tap I had to have after giving birth that sometimes this kind of thing can happen. I haven't experienced it personally, I'll try to find the booklet and see what it said... if I've still got it somewhere...

Yeah, next time I'm going natural. I'm thinking that should be easy since last time I was induced and had an 8.5 lb baby. lol We'll see, though. Last time I got the epi cause my Dr and nurses said I needed it to get my BP down more.

I would have MUCH preferred Not to get the epidural this last time. But I really didn't have a choice since my cervix was swelling from Abel being stuck and I was in an incredible amount of pain.

In my other labors though, contractions weren't bad at all~ certainly not more than I could deal with through breathing and relaxing. *sigh* oh well.

Oops~ forgot the OP question! LOL I have read and heard from some of my LLL moms that they have pain occasionally from where the epidural went in. It's also possible that the birth process and insertion of the epidural needle may have caused a misalignment. Getting a chiropractic adjustment sure couldn't hurt. :)

I had one on Tuesday, and so far although I do have a bit of back pain, I'm not sure if that is the after effect of the epidural or from the way that I am moving becuase I am so sore.

I had to have an epi, to be perfectly honest, there is no way that I would have managed to continue and have my VBAC had I not had it. The pain really was unbearable for me anyway.

Talk to your doctor if you are concerned though.
