  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The engagement ring custom is one I would like to keep. Men and women ARE inherently different, though both are created in God's image.... and I think that if both or neither were to get engagement rings, that would be a bit too feminist for my tastes ;) I don't know... sometimes I like to feel girlie ^_^

As far as what kind I want... simple is good. Yellow gold with a small center diamond and channel diamonds would be cool, with a matching wedding band w/channel diamonds. I also like the idea of getting something slightly different!

I can't wait to give one. It's going to be a big rock! Nothing less than the best.
Reminds me of the 'rock' that I saw on this lady once. It was HUGE...i had to look closer to see how many moons were in it's orbit. I won't go that all out, I want whomever i propose to to be happy. In the end, it's just a symbol.

LOL,, you guys are all big talkers. Wait till you have to pony up 7k for a tight ring.

The ring i get my future wife will represent where we are with our lives at that point in time. If i'm doing really well then big ring it is,,,if i'm not, then small ring it is. She'll deal. If i'm doing bad and then doing good,,then i'll get her a bigger one. I'm sure i'm gonna hate ring shopping. Those shisters have a monopoly on the diamond market and slowly leak them into circulation to keep the prices artificially inflated. You're paying waaaay more then you should, and thats gonna bug me.

I'm getting my SO an engagement ring :) Only fair!

I talked to him the other day about hypothetical engagement ring (we aren't anywhere NEAR it yet!), and he was saying how boring diamond rings looks to him... at first my head went BOING... but then I understood what he was saying...

So after I stopped looking like , I asked what he would want to give - he said a blue ring...

Got him back in the good books immediately - my fave ring is Tanzanite - and it's still a fairly precious stone (therefore rare like a diamond, and in the more economically higher range, like said diamond)...

Either way, it'll look good on my finger :)

Only thing that annoys me about em is when mum says I should get the same setting I had for my first engagement - AS IF!

I noticed the majority of the ladies are all asking for a diamond ring. But what if I got her, not necessarily a diamond, but a ring that I know that would represent her? My fiance doesn't care for jewelrys. So I thought I'd take her to Naples, Italy, Yum Kappur, Thailand, or Petra, Jordan to propose to her. Wouldn't that be better?
