CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just wanted to notify people here, that not all diamonds are from Africa. I personally would like an emeral engagement ring, but aside from that, there are lovely diamonds mined in norther Canada, in the Yukon. They are called Polar Bear diamonds and are extremely high quality and mined wihtout cruelty to humanity.

I do not consider a diamond to be a worthy investment. They are overpriced and retailers jack up the price by a staggering 300%. The "diamond" engagement thing was started by a diamond retailer in the early 1900's and it has since been defined as something required to validate an engagement, which I find completely ridiculous and laughable.
I think diamonds are pretty, yes. I think synthetic diamonds and ones grown in labs are just as beautiful, and less wasteful.
Personally I don't desire one. I don't judge people who do but I do feel sorry for women who feel like getting one is in some way a required aspect of a marriage proposal.

i have not gotten my ring yet, but it has 2 crosses on it and it was a ring i loved when I was in my 20's. What was cool he liked the same set too!

This kind of reminded me of my parents, except they wont wear any jewelry at all. I have diamond rings, I never really thought of it in that way though. Very interesting..

The last engagement ring I got was a very expensive diamond ring, if I had to choose I would get something simple and probably not a diamond.
