End Times

I'm trying to study the end times. I'm taking a free online class from Dallas Theologican Seminary on Revelation. I have J Vernon McGee's book on Revelation. I have Dr. Jerimiah's book on "Is this the End" and reading all this together is taking forever but I'm getting a lot of unexpected information. Oddly, until now they are all lining up together.

Here's my problem. After the Rapture the Anti-Christ appears. One of the things that he does is to create a covenant with Israel. That fulfulls the third end time Israel prophesy... Israel comes back to their home land (1948), They become prosperous (they are) and they find peace (the anti-christ covenant).

So this is the start of the tribulation. 3.5 years into the tribulation the Anti-Christ breaks the covenent. Magog and all the others attack. God intervenes, there is a giant earthquake. Mountains fall. The attacking nations turn on themselves. Bodies are piled up. Birds and animals eat them in the "Sacrificial Meal".

So far I'm good. We are half way through the tribulation. I know I've left out a lot but it's not pertinent to my question.

Israel starts burning the bows and arrows, etc for fuel. I can live with that, I imagine it will be the diesel from the fuel tanks of the tanks and jeeps, etc.

The will burn this for fuel for 7 years. But, we are half way through the tribulation. This would mean that Israel will be buring this fuel for the first 3.5 years of the milineum. Is that right?

I would also encourage you to look at a different end times model than what you are studying. There is no rapture for God's people before the persecution begins.

The 7 days/years seperated from the 70 week prophesy also does not follow God's prophetic standard. If you look the description of the last week described in Daniel, Jesus confirms the covenant with many and in the midst of the week is cut off. We know Jesus' ministry was for 3 1/2 years and that He was cut off but not for Himslf but for us. 3 1/2 years after Jesus' death was the stoning of Stephen which finished the ministry to the Jews. The whole of the prophesy of Daniel was determined upon the Jewish people.

First you must find closure to the things that you wanted in your life, or they will make you too heavy with burden. Eliminate these distractions and if you can; try to find a way to acknowledge God in your life. If you keep doing that, you will find God eventually, and you will see the messages he will give you along the way. He has a safe place for all of us, and only people who see these messages that he sent will be able to find it...

I agree with you that Jesus' ministry fulfils the first half of the 70th week, and that the whole of the prophecy was determined upon the Jewish people.

However, I'm wondering what you would say to those who see the two witnesses of Revelation 11:3 as fulfilling the second half of the 70th week?

The two witnesses of Revelation are the two olive trees, the Word of God, the Old and New Testament. The reference to them lying dead in the street for 3 1/2 years was fulfilled when the French parliament declared God to be dead and the goddess of reason to be set up in His place during the French revolution. This lead to some of the worst atrocities committed upon God's people at the time and lasted exactly 3 1/2 days/years. The symbolic reference to Sodom and Egypt described the licentiousness and atheism during that time.

I'm afraid the description given in Revelation chapter 11 sounds very much like they are men to me.

Most of Revelation is written in symbolic language and has to be understood in that context ie: beasts are kingdoms, waters are peoples nations and tongues etc.

There is definitely a much more in depth study that can be done to show the meaning of these symbols using the Bible as it's own interpreter.
